Help with tires

First post
Sorry folks , more questions ( I’m a new owner ) and I know many of you have the answers .
Looking at either the 600x20 or the 650x 20 tires .
About $125 difference X 2
It’s not a lot in American but it’s a fair amount in Canadian difference plus shipping .
The truck has 650’s (32x6)
I dont want to mess this up and then try to figure what to do...
Last post
Adding 2 diameter will raise the vehicle about 1 and allow a little higher road speed, maybe 5%. Most trucks sit higher at the back unless loaded. On dual rear wheels, clearance between tires may be an issue with oversize tires.

Hi. Last week I posted a question about my magneto not working. Several people gave advice and I have it working; problem was in the switch. (Thanks for all the help).
I just took it for a short ride (close to a mile). It is definitely running more rough on magneto than on battery. Any ideas?

I did! That was the preferred spelling in earlier days. Although by 1915, the I ne had become the preferred way, there were still some people that continued using the E ne. Going further back into the mid to late 1800s, the E ne had been the more common on flammable fuels and chemicals....

I'm fairly new to Model T's. I have a 1916 runabout with a 1922 engine and trans. Since I've owned it the clutch has chattered a bit when going from low to high. I have only driven it a little bit (maybe 50 miles) but the chatter seems to be getting worse. Should I try adjusting the three screws on the pressure plate?
Martin
Last post
If a slight rpm difference causes chatter, I would look for clutch lug wear. Disks could be snagging on lugs preventing even pressure.

Touring is what I enjoy the most about the hobby, by far. This was a great one to be on, despite getting stuck in the river.
I'm looking forward to building my Model T and seeing what travelling with strictly Flivvers is like.

Howdy Everyone
My TT died a couple years ago on the way home from the local parade.
Family issues put the repairs on the back burner until now.
It appears the generator was binding up and the generator gear ate the Alum timing gear.
I ordered some parts and cleaned as much of the alum shaving from the engine as i could.
Now it's time to install...

less than .003 and you are on the edge of having issues. Our shop standard is .004/.006 backlash. On T generators you need to really careful that the generator bracket is dead square to the front of the block. There is nothing in the design to make it straight when bolted up. Best way is to temporarily install the front cylinder cover and then...

Part of George's fix needs to consider the bolts that hold the apron down on the frame. These need to be loosened to allow the fender to move. If it can't move there, the rear cant shift. My understanding from old timers, is that there are 2 different counterbalanced cranks. 1 that is prone to break, and 1 that (can't) be broke.
I have no idea how you tell the difference. Wished I knew.
I have 1 that I got used that has 5,000 miles at 60 MPH and still going.

Dan, that is not the best quality switch to buy.

I know this is a touchy subject, but I am new to T's and need to understand. I have a 1927 Roadster. I've entirely rebuilt the front end, so steering is to spec with fresh bushings, kingpins, spindles etc. Steering seems tight, though I've never driven another Model T. One thing I've learned driving it is that it's easy for a rut or pothole to...

You don't need to do anything except put your parts together like is says to in the Ford Service book. If all your bushings are tight and the pitman arm and tie rod balls are snug and you have everything lubricated correctly, you are good to go. I use bronze bushings, because you can't buy those parts any more.

Does Steve know how to access the go fund me funds? Now that he is moving to rehab he could probably use some extra funds. I am suspect he would like to replace his lap top and such.
Last post
I wasn't suggesting we tell Steve how to spend his money. I was inquiring as to whether he has access to the go fund cash.

I recently saw The Absent Minded Professor movie dated 1961, and just loved the movie and the flying model T.
Was the T a 1915 or 1916 touring?
Our whole family watched the Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday evening, including the movie on TV; lots of good memories.

I'm looking at some old posts I missed and saw the one on 23 tranny on 26 block . Is there any chance Les or somebody would consider doing another run of the floating transmission shafts. I have 2 and would like a third and maybe a fourth. I'm sold on the concept and believe they may be the best way to protect the center main, preserve our limited...

Rear axel seal replacement

I am replacing my outer and inner rear axel seals on my 1913 T. When I removed the outer original Ford bearing, the axel sprung to one side by 1/4 . The bearing slide out just fine by hand. Should I be concerned the axel shaft is sitting in the housing to one side without the outer bearing? Is there any impact to installing the inner seals?

I recently drove my 1927 coupe for the first time since restoration. I drove 10 miles.
After getting back to the garage, I looked it over. I touched the rear axle pumpkin and found that it was very, very hot. If I had tried to keep my fingers on it, I believe they would have been burnt.
I had the axle rebuilt, including new ring and pinion,...

If the brakes were dragging sufficiently to heat up the rear end, you would have also noticed the car's power & speed being dragged down significantly.

I thought I had seen some plans for the woodwork for a speedster body that would then be covered with aircraft type fabric. Does anyone know if those plans are still available?

This speedster was made by a forum member many years back from muslin fabric and airplane dope.

Does anyone have a pic of the Rocky Mountain brake linkage? I would like to see pics of the ORIGINAL cable equalizer and attachments at the front end. Anyone have an original brochure of the TT Rocky installation instructions? Thank you.

I am hijacking this old thread with another TT Rocky question. Does anyone know if you need longer hub bolts to mount the new repro Rocky kit for a TT truck? 1926 big drum of course, I don't think the kit came with any hub bolts.
Yes maybe, as would add about 1/8 thickness to the original brake drum that would be install with it. The original...

Need help on this one.
I have a 1927 Model T. My father restored it 30 years ago and now I am restoring it again. My spark and throttle control levers do not go far enough through the steering bracket. Spark does not go far enough to put on the part that the spark control rod hooks on to. The throttle lever does not even make it to the steering...

To add a bit to Wayne Sheldon's history, when Winnebago motorhomes was starting up, neither GM or Ford would make custom chassis for Winnebago in the (by Detroit standards) low volume that Winnebago needed. They finally went to Dodge which said sure . Winnebago has had a special loyalty to Chrysler ever since. They do use other chassis as well...

Scott, thanks for the clarification. Interesting that our DO Rajo was also detuned. It is definitely a Rajo as it has the design tweaks Jagersberger made after he bought the whole project when Gallivan got in trouble for building them instead of Hispano Suiza airplane engines for the army.

I know the phrasing - if it works - don't fix it! - but even though my 1914 Touring is driving extremely well with the aftermarket Toquet carburetor, I am aiming for making this car as close as original as possible (except for the necesary flashers, 2-3 stoplight etc) and I believe the Toquet is some years later than 1914 (1920+).
I have a...
