Well I am going to be attempting to respoke all of my wheels here soon since the wife has been on me about getting the T running for the warm weather. Greetings Friends:
My 1923 touring car has a modern head with 14 mm spark plug holes. I'm having some ignition problems, and since I last changed the plugs 15+ years ago and the car has been driven a lot, I think it's time to for a new set of plugs. The car currently has Bosch FR9 HP (R3 488) Platinum 14 mm plugs in it. (These were highly...

The speedster that I have takes the same exact Bosch 14mm plugs that you use. If you go on ebay and look there are normally deals for a box of 10 for usually $19.99. I consider that a screaming deal. If you don't see any send me a PM and I'd be glad to get ya some of my stock. Anything to help in this hobby.

They should have been cotter pinned. When setting the nut, torque to spec.
If the cotter pin hole doesnt line up, Tighten more until the pin can be installed.
Never back off the nut to get the holes aligned.

I just saw an article that Massachusetts has started enforcing an obscure law. The law states that automotive headlights must be considered as a unit. You may not use LED headlight bulbs in housings that were not originally designed for them. I'm starting a new thread to specifically talk about carburetors. The T I've got came with a Zenith-Bendix side draft unit originally installed on a Wisconsin Twin cylinder engine. It ran OK, but had a sloppy throttle shaft, wept fuel when not running, and didn't have any way adjust the mixture, which ran pretty rich.

Useless fun fact: Louisiana is the rainiest of the 50 states for average annual rainfall. So, I don't worry about lack of humidity. I second the motion about care with linseed oil as i have seen the contents of a concrete building get burned out by the stuff on a rag, spontaneously combusting after only a few hours of sitting on a shelf.

Adding a drain hole in a Ford-Fathful oiler?

Consider, that when the drain hole is open, it will drain as designed for removal, still filling & keeping full the reservoir pocket that feeds oil out to the front of the motor.

Is there a do-it-yourself bottle of magic chemical that I can pour into the tank, agitate the tank, pour the magic chemical out and consider the tank sufficiently clean?

I can think of hundreds of reasons to solder up a rust hole in an otherwise clean tank, most of them being Dollars. One of the tanks I treated to a POR kit had a couple of pin holes. POR said they would be sealed by their process. I took no chances and soldered them anyway.

Can anyone identify what car this headlight fork is used on? I bought it at a swap meet for a friend thinking it was possibly for his T, not so. It measures 7-1/2” from fork to fork. The numbers “2874” are on it. The threaded end is 9/16 -18. The small hole is 5/16” dia. Any
ideas for its application are appreciated.

Some time ago, I remember a discussion on covers for our Ts, on this forum.
I searched but, with over 4,000 hits, I couldn't find that thread.
I am looking for an All Weather cover for our 1925 TT. I'm sure it will have to be custom made.
I would like to hear recommendations for a GOOD company to work with.
Thank You All.

Hi All,
I'm not a mechanic by any means but having been told that the 7.5 degree timing advance makes a big difference to Model T performance, thought I'd have a go at replacing the standard Ford timing gear with a nylon 7.5 degree advanced gear on our '24 RPU. Now that I've got the original timing gear off and compare them side by side, it occurs...

John and All : .. we've had a nylon advanced timing cam gear in our ' 26 runabout since the engine was rebuilt 20 or so years ago.. no problems whatsoever
I and a friend of mine had recently made nylon gears have tooth failures as in breaking off. They must have been made better 20 years ago.

Looking for dimensions and or pics for the battery cover and the way it fits into the bed. I have the wood cut and rabbited for the floor but unsure of how the cover fits and whether I have to do more modifications to the opening when I go to cut it in. Thanks in advance for the help. Jim

Can anyone help to ID this headlight bar. I have attached a photo of my one piece bar to show the difference.
The photos of the one with the headlight attached has a locking nut and separate end bracket. I thought it was a 26.
I bought it and never paid attention to the differences until I got it back to my shop. Any help would be appreciated....

I have several Rim Clamp charts found on the Internet. Recently I came across several STONE Brand rim clamps but like the others their numbers don't match Model T numbers. Also does anyone have a cross reference of Rim Clams to wheels I can start one if needed.
These are some charts I already have

What is the adjustment procedure? I have set the lining to drum clearance to .020 and expect to do this a few times as the linings bed in.

I wanted to write to ask for your opinions regarding something that I discovered when removing my starter bendix today. After removing the cover I saw that the spring was broken which is what I was expecting. When I...

This video is not Model T related but is Ford related, and does have a connection to the Model T.
Tom Cotter visits a racing garage in Alabama. Outside the shop, sits a 1950 Ford, one of two in the 1997 Peking to Paris race.
The navigator of the car was none other than Vic Zannis, who passed away in September of 2018.

I keep having trouble getting to get the rear spring in straight. Every time I clamp the u bolts down it pulls the spring down tighter on the one side making the spring sit angled down on the left side. This makes the car sit angled down on the left side. Is there a certain position for the spring clamps to be in ?

In later years, Ford replaced the leather pad with a piece of top material. I suggest using the earlier style leather pads. The top material pads still had the leather pieces on each end.

Well, my 1914 has a Ford Manual , dated 1914. It is the same book that is listed on the cimorelli page for the 1914 cars. Content-wise, it is mostly the same as the 1913 Instruction Books listed on the page (and also the earlier Instruction Books , like the 1911 one), just the form of presentation is different. The instruction book is written as a...

Securing Camshaft Seal in Timer Cover

I am planning to use the modern camshaft seal in my timing gear cover. However, it is quite loose in the bore. Not a huge amount, but loose enough and certainly not a press fit. What do y'all use/recommend for securing the seal? I have an idea, but wanted to check with the folks who have done this.
Last post
Between the type with the enclosed U shaped groove into which a felt seal was stuffed, there was a second one with an open land for the cam seal but still with the narrow crankshaft seal groove. Once the open land was introduced, it made it much easier to fit the cam felt seal, and this was held in place by the brass, and later, steel cover held...

Making some progress on my Dayton wire wheels

I have a set of Dayton wheels that I am going to use on my 26 speedster. The pins were really worn and there was some wear to the holes. To fix this I made new slightly larger pins and cut the holes to fit. To make sure I cut the holes in the right position, I made a jig that aligned to the center of the wheel and placed the holes in the right...

I just got my 22 out for the first time this year and I am having an odd problem. It’s running a bit rougher than normal but accelerated ok in low. I know that some folks apply a gasket- (example: Crankcase pan lower cover gasket) by applying RTV sealant between the engine block and the gasket (apply to one side of the gasket), and then applying a real heavy grease to the cover rather that use RTV, then bolt the cover to the block. To be clea r one side of the gasket gets RTV and the other...

Bill I have found that a big problem with these new gaskets is not leaking past them. It is leaking through them. Like a wick on kerosene lamp.
I coat them on all sides with gasket sealer. It soaks in and helps stop that. Then RTV, but that stops what you are trying to accomplish.
Just what I have found. Dan

I have this very old Ford parts book, I think it’s probably from a ford branch. It includes all the parts books from 1903-1908. Models A, AC, C, B, K, and NRS. Inside the front cover is an old Ink stamp. It’s a stamp of a car and some lettering. If I could somehow get the lettering inhanced, it probably tells where the book came from. Ideas?

Has anyone had experience with cotton woven linings made by Mark Auto Company, Layton N. J..... Currently out of business. I have a set of those linings for the improved Ford with the instructions copyrighted in 1974.
Best linings I ever used and had long life out of them. Sadly, they haven't been available for at least 20 years.

I had that problem for a different reason.
Most engines will backfire with the mixture leaned too much.
It used to seem to be a bigger problem with radial aircraft engines.
My first Model T was missing the carburetor air intake funnel.
I did not think it was important while driving on clean black top roads and I did not replace it.
The...
