Dose anyone know what the radius is for the top bows for a 1915 Touring.

Thank you
I couldn’t find anything about the radius. I had some made and looks a little bigger than what I’m taking off. But there only 108 year's old. The new ones are 6 1/2 inside 7 1/2 outside.

Clutch pack slipping

I drove my '27 T to the Dublin NH Antique Gas Engine Meet last week. There are two steep hills between Peterborough NH and Dublin. On the first one my 2nd gear started to slip. By the second one I had to go in 1st. I nursed the T home, mostly in 1st.
Question: Can the clutch pack be tightened without pulling the engine? I've had the engine out...
Last post
I think you will find the above instruction opposite what should be. With the clutch in neutral the levers should be pushing on the spring, however when in high gear, they should be a bit loose. The spring holds the clutch in high gear, so it is tight against the clutch disks. The clutch pedal or lever compresses the spring so that the disks slip...

I have the LED conversion lamps (-purchased from Snyders) in my '14 Runabout that use the acetylene burner bases to mount them, and 12v battery power to illuminate. Brent,
There are several different units available with the same base configuration. They appear to range between 250 - 900 lumens, and 3W - 10W.
I have two types here, one was rated at 3W, the other at 5W, I don't recall now what...

What do you guys use to face off the brass spindle bushings? I bought one from a guy who used it one time to do his car, he bought from one of the Vendors. It wont cut anything!! It doesn’t look damaged, just very dull. No sure it can be sharpened? I don’t really need one at the moment but will someday.
Last post
I use an original dealership tool. It works nicely. BTW, I only “face” the flange of the lower bushing so the spindle fits in the axle yoke. Why ??.. Because the entire weight of the front of the T rests on the top bushing flanges and I want the most ‘meat’ there.

FYI: For cleaning the seat use a bamboo chopstick. Sharpen the end with pencil sharpener, spin the chopstick with your hands like you are trying to start a fire. This with clean and polish the seat. Dan

After double checking the radiator shell and convinced that it's OK and taking measurements of the radiator and sure that it's too tall, it's time to cut.
There are new radiators available, which would also require me to purchase a fan hub, then tax and shipping comes to about $980. So why not try and salvage what I've got first.
The gap is about...

Just to clarify though, you mention that this isn't a Ford style lamp, yet the linked catalogue (that does indeed show side/tail lamps much closer in style to the one I have), lists them as Ford Gas Lamps . Of course, this is just some other third-party shop owner that is reselling these lamps as noted in the listing.
I guess they listed them as...

Anyone know the dimensions and location of the bumpers used on brass windshields? I know they are attached somewhere to the lower frame to keep the upper frame from banging together when lowered. I assume they are made of rubber and are screwed into the frame but that's just a guess. If anyone has a photo I'd appreciate it.

I had both a Rands and an Automatic ‘11 Torpedo windshield. The Automatic had the screws in place for the bumpers and the Rands had original bumpers intact. Here’s a picture of the Rands.

Hi,
my 1921 Model T pickup generally runs OK, but the idle is nothing to write home about. It basicly can't go idle and when stopping for red for exampe, I have to either let it idle fast or be at the throttle all the time. The carburetor is a stock Holey NH.

I never liked the headlight bulbs I have been using for decades, 6V, 32-32 cp. Original bulbs in my 1924 have a low beam that is more like a parking light than a headlight. The T has front shocks on it too. Along with the “ little house” that’s close to it. Maybe that’s an early version of the little house idea that’s going on these days.

I have a few questions for the amazing knowledge pool on this forum. I recently inherited a 1925 TT C-Cab. However, it came mostly in parts. My welding, body work, and painting skills are being thoroughly tested. I am getting ready to test fit the cab, fenders, and hood prior to painting. I have a few questions to run by all of you experts.

*TT Rocky-Mountain 6spd ratios*

Does anyone know what the Rocky-Mountain 6spd ratios are for low, direct and Overdrive?
I have the chance to acquire one and I'm just curious if it would be a better or equal to the Iron Warford I have set aside for it.

Are you sure that is a six speed ? (Actually a three speed progressive shift times the Ford planetary two!) The shape of the case doesn't look like any of the three six speed transmissions I had.
I don't know what the overdrive ratio was in the TT version I had many years ago. I sold it instead of using it. And I never did figure out what the...

In 1982 we visited the Museum in Los Angeles and saw this Red Model T. I heard more about it later but don't recall it's connection with the MTFCA. Perhaps it has been talked about in previous threads. Their cars were displayed with terrific backdrops at that time. Now the cars are in a warehouse in Gardena so I heard.

Looking for input.
Soon, hopefully, I'll be beginning the teardown and rebuild of my 25 T Touring car. There are lots of tools already in my arsenal as I've been a gearhead since old enough to hold a wrench for my dad. That begs the question, what tools particular to the Model T should I acquire?
I'm not a tool vintage collector but I also know...

Thank you, everyone!!
This input is incredible! I’ll be making a list of projects and the tools needed to do them.
While collecting parts, I’ve also purchased every book, reference, and article recommended and will continue to do so.
Can’t wait to get started.

Been wanting a T for 20 years. Have an A but wanted a T. Bought on local, 1927 Tudor, “Dad drove it in the barn, I watched him”. Yep it likely did on about 1960. Seems the 10 year old boy didn’t know or hear the rod knock that made them park it. Didn’t hear it when I cranked it by hand before buying.
Pull pan to look it over and find loose rod...

I am trying to help someone put a new top on a 1925 Touring T, but have no detailed instructions. This is a 24 Touring that belongs to a Ford dealer from St. Louis. It belonged to the dealers father who passed away. The father had taken it somewhere years ago to be worked on because the engine locked up and then he passed away. The son said his dad had told him about the car but he never knew where it was taken. Still have a few bugs to work out but I’m almost there. This was a 23 touring converted to a wood saw by my wife’s great grandfather. They swapped the cowl and engine from a 26. Her great aunt said they took the body off and threw it in the gully behind the house. It’s long gone. She remembered riding to school in it with her brothers and sisters....

Thanks but this my 60th! I was 13 in 1963 when I went to my first one. Of those 60 years, I narrated the OCF for 35 years: more than half of the time I was in attendance and about half of all OCFs. Very proud of that.

Old car clocks or ?

Here are some old clocks for cars, boats or an accessory for whatever I think
The center Waltham runs well and has a 8 day movement. It’s a very well made brass clock.
The other two are Westclocks that need work.
So were they accessory items for cars or whatever? I’ve seen the smaller Westclocks in old cars but not sure about the Waltham....
Last post
Great information!
The Waltham that I have wasn’t running when I got it out of the closet. I Hadn’t thought about those clocks in a good while.
I unscrewed the back and used a pencil to give the small spring loaded wheel a push and it started ticking. You have to put it to your ear to hear it. It’s ticking ok and I was surprised how good it ran....

That sixth photo is interesting. Non-electric and non-demountable wheels don't mean a lot, as the base model continued that way until the end for runabouts and touring cars. The difference in condition, shine, etc, casts doubt about a number of things. I tend to agree that he cars was somehow damaged, and repairs may account for some issues. The...

One easy test is to see what the voltage drop is whall cranking. That will indicate loss due to bad connections in the power supply between the starter & battery, including the switch. You still need heavy cables to carry the amperage.
