Hello T Forum. Is there a way to keep the transmission bands straight while putting on the hogs head without having the special clamp.
Thanks in advance,

Allen,
Your suggestion of putting the nuts and washers on the brake shafts before setting the hogshead is an excellent idea. I hadn't thought of that.

As most of us know on the forum lots of Model T’s at the end of their days were junked out and whatever then the chassis were used for trailers. I’ve hauled home a few myself in various configurations.
Here’s one in 1940’s Texas that was as a cotton trailer. I haven’t ran across many photos up close of a T farm trailer in the day. Thought you may...

In the 70’s I bought a bunch of T parts, a T frame , a pretty complete T trailer and a mostly complete 38 Ford flat bed pickup that was in fairly decent shape.
This was at a farm auction and the 38 Ford was thrown in with the other T stuff so it would sell. I bid 35.00 and the auctioneer yelled sold!
I made a deal with with a guy that would...

As if I hadn’t put enough time into this motor project already… this Boyd water pump turned up not too long ago, and it looked to be an actual centrifugal pump, and not just an agitator or circulator as many others are. After some deliberation as to how… it got a new stainless steel and aluminum front end. Next step is to drill a hole in a bucket,...

Jeff,
I’ve seen Model K increase steadily in value over the last few years. As a personal aside, a good friend bought this K, and I’m thrilled he and his family have it, and that it will be driven and tour regularly. I’m looking forward to four 1907 Ford Model K on tour together in the near future.
Cheers,

Several Small Steps in Getting the 27 Coupe Ready to Roll

Photos showing those small steps.
The third photo shows the clip pin used instead of pin with a cotter key. They say this makes changing fan belts easier. Any concerns about a clip vs a cotter key?
It took a sanding of the fan shaft with 320 and 400 grit to get it into the hub.

An over fourteen million serial number makes it a very late 1926! September 1926 many people would consider to be a 1927 model! So not likely a crossover oddity.
Given the serial number on the frame, it most likely would be a proper 1926 frame. However, you should confirm many 1926 details. Correct frame and cross members, proper (lower) front...

If you do not want to remove the outlet from the head you have to pull the radiator forward. Disconnect the upper tank support rod. Loosen the radiator bolts on the frame. Hopefully you have enough thread to do this without taking off the nuts. Remove the clamps and twist the hose. Hopefully it is loose enough and you can tilt the radiator forward...

I used a repro harness from Snyders when I rewired the car. However, for the added wiring such as brake light, indicators, etc. I simply used plastic wiring threaded through black shoe lace, and bound at the ends with black cotton.

Michigan requires a bill of sale, appraisal, and sometimes a bond if the value of the car is high enough. Rural DMV offices are a lot easier to work with than those in the big cities. Visit your Secretary of State website and see what they require for obtaining a title for a vehicle that doesn't have one.

Has anyone ever compiled a list of the Ford Agencies by address, from the 1910-1930 period? I know that at the end of the Model T period, Ford lost about 50% of their dealers, some voluntarily gave them up, and others were simply fired for complaining about the Model T's unsalability. There are good descriptions of what happened in the Ford...

A good start would be the cover page for each issue of the Ford Service Bulletins. Just about every issue had the name and address of a Ford dealer that had done something to impress Ford Corporate. Each was a story about the dealer.
One of our local dealers made the cover for building Fordson into tractors for the iron ore mines here. Dan

I believe the only thing wrong with Penzoil is the higher price that subsidizes its expensive advertising. A less costly brand is fine if it has the API seal on the container.

If you're replacing the timing gear, you should also replace the generator gear. In your one photo it appears well worn. Running a worn generator gear against a new timing gear will make for a noisy mesh.

We are considering moving onto the country. There would be two ways to access the house. We could take 7 miles of gravel and a 55mph highway. The other way would be a divided highway at 65mph. I’m not sure I feel to comfortable with either option. How much highway driving do you all do? How safe is it? My car is a ‘26 Roadster.

Judging by the spring rates provided, a new higher tension square spring would work fine
with possibly a little extra tension via the 3 finger adjustment.
Do check the new springs tension. I have found a wide range from 110#'s to 130#'s
The stiffer tension preferred for the Watts disks.

There is probably more uniformity of dimensions for the later bodies. The original floor boards and the sill rebate in my Wilson-bodied '13 are 5/8 .

I've seen other threads referencing Shop Theory - The Henry Ford Trade School listing the composition of EE steel and other materials. Does anyone have a copy of this that could check?

I received valve drawings from the Benson Ford Research Center. These are dated 15th January 1927.
The valve stem is cold drawn steel Type EE and the valve head is Cast Iron Grade B.

I have never been a big fan of the towncars. However, I do appreciate them, and consider them to be an important part of automotive history!
If the casting date on the engine is to be believed, it would make this a very early 1917 model! True 1917 models are somewhat rare, and the photos do not do a good job of showing just how correct (or not?)...

John, If the oil hole is on the bottom, will it allow a lot more oil to flow through the 4th main going up hills? I understand from a discussion with Gene French that many 4th mains have no hole.
Possibly a little bit more. Not a lot more since oil still enters around the mains open end. Also the spinning spring retainer cup shields the end...

I’ve heard that a Voltage Regulator (cutout look alike) is smarter than the original generator cutouts. How is the generator third brush adjusted when a VR is used…or does it even matter?
Last post
Curious that one VR can work for 6, 12, and 24 volt systems? I’m no electrical engineer but that just doesn’t sound right to me.
Because ITS NOT A VOLTAGE REGULATOR. Its an electronic cutout. Can be built with one diode.
I have made my own. One selects a diode that covers the voltage /amp output maximum output from the generator.
Like 40V, 50...

The clamp-on swivel bracket on my 1915 didn't want to stay put. So I bought a #2696B spindle arm, the one with a hole in it for a swivel bracket. I expect I can make a tapered part that...

Do your homework Steve! 1915 brackets are all by themselves. I think they are being reproduced in brass. You may luck out and find an original. I bought a NOS original from Alvin Anderson back in the sixties for $3! How many of you remember him?
