Thanks to youse guys, the friend's 1925 horn under discussion in the last few days has been fixed and mounted back on the engine. The horn sounds great! To my pleasant surprise, the horn button on the steering column is functional! I was expecting a bare knuckles fist fight there, too. Whew! One less headache for me to deal with.
Headache #2 is on...

Any progress?
Unfortunately not. Other Model A and T repair work will have to take precedence and be attended to first. I think this rusty horn project will have to be an as time allows kind of deal now, especially since it will require so much tedious cleaning of tight and delicate areas on the horn's motor. It will after all be necessary to...

Model t vs. Model Y

I've been watching the SuperfastMatt channel for a while as he builds a landspeed car, convert's a '50s Jag to a Tesla drive train, and puts a motorcycle engine in a Honda S200. Today's video is comparing the Ford Model T to the Tesla Model Y. It's a fun 17m video folks here might find interesting.

The video was good. Though comparisons like these make me feel I’ll. I would like to be a fly on the wall 100 years from now watching forum members on the MYTCA debate over a NOS computer screens verses a repop  or trying to find a original battery or proprietary software program.

I am considering getting a new radiator from Brassworks for my ‘24 Touring. The threads on the radiator filler on my 21 touring. I don,t believe they are stripped but just worn. I have researched the forum and not have found a answer. Has anyone had experience with restoring the threads on the filler neck?
Last post
The radiator necks can sometimes swell a bit and flare out. They can also crack and split. Coupled with worn threads, and you've got your problem. Scott's teflon tape idea is great. Maybe also consider squashing the cap a bit to make it out-of-round, which may give some thread engagement in a couple of spots and be just enough to hold the cap on....

Is it necessary to keep the heater connected to the carb while driving in warmer temps. I may take my T out for a short trip to the mailbox in winter, but that is not often. I suppose in doing so even a short drive might freeze up the carb. Thank you to any responders!

Modern carbureted vehicles with missing or inoperative intake heat devices will suffer from condensation/freezeup issues under some conditions. Inline 4 and 6 cylinder engines are more prone to it. I believe that some fuel injection systems have some provision for heating the throttle body. They are less prone to the problems, but frost can occur...

I appreciate the picture, Kerry. According to the model T Ford encyclopedia, the Tourabout shown in Ford Times but not produced until July, and then called 1910 cars.
MODEL YEAR DATES: October 1908 to July 31, 1909. (Ford called the cars built after July 31 1910 models.
So, I was wrong about it being July 1910 but rather July 1909.

Ford did have a taillamp bracket in 1912. Regarding the Neverout bracket pictured above, I like the blade version, which is like what Ford furnished from the factory. The rest of the license plate part is the same as pictured above. Originals show up occasionally, and are usually $75-$100.

I wonder if the change to one piece gears was due to the Fellows Gear Shaper becoming commonplace? I assume the riveted gears were hobbed and the one piece gears were made on a Fellows Gear Shaper. The one piece gears have less width across the face to allow for shaper relief.

Just wondering how high above the rear panel top beading for a touring car is the bottom of the three rear curtain windows?
Mine is about 8 1/2 inches.
I imagine there is some difference as production lines were rushed.

The four smaller capacitors were purchased locally 25 years ago but originated from Macs. The larger one is current stock from Langs.
I’m assuming the Langs caps are good to use — is there any concern about the older, smaller ones or should they function and last equally well?

I have been thinking about getting an Aermore whistle but I am not sure what size I should be looking for. The most common size I see is the No. 2, but I don’t know if that will work on a T. I see that there are smaller sizes, but I don’t seem to see them for sale and can’t find dimensions.

The aermore shown here is correct for a T. A smaller unit will sound more shrill. A larger unit will sound deeper, more hollow.

Buy a piloted reamer from the suppliers along with matching lifters. Use a mechanical guide to put the reamer in the CENTER of things and you'll be good to go without worrying about calculating clearances.

For putting a new hose on a new rdiator inlet, it's hard to imagine that you have any pits to worry about. I started using a finger smear of grease on both the hose and the inlet, then install hose. Does anyone have a Coupe that needs a new home? I need an early Coupe for the leg room.
Last post
Thanks Tim
I looked at the photos and the 24 Coupe looks nice.....If anyone knows if the package shelf can be removed to give more leg room I would appreciate it. I know it can be done on the 26/27 but with the improved cars they have no gas tank under the seat.

Several of us retrieved a very neglected 26 touring car today for one of our younger members at a very attractive purchase price.
The young purchaser took it home. Evidently the wife was not impressed and told the young buyer they were not going to keep the car.
The son of the buyer, maybe less than 10 years old, was told by his father what the...

Newish kevlar brake band seemed to swell - car stalled

Has anyone else experienced a kevlar band on the brake drum swelling?
Mine did during a short 10-mile trip and caused the car to stall. Not much room left to loosen the band - running out of threads on the pedal shaft.
I would assume that bands settle in and compress some over time.

Norm, the pedal action for both RHD & LHD are the same.
Reverse and brake pedal shaft move to the left
The low pedal moves to the right.
This drawing shows the action
The black vertical line is the HH
On LHD the cams are on the outside for Reverse and Brake the Low cam is inside
On RHD the R & B is on the inside and the Low is outside.

Can anyone recommend the cheapest new 21 inch tires? I just don't have much cash to spare at the moment. My car has 60- 70 year old tires that are still holding up but I am wanting to put the miles on the old girl come spring and I definitely have concerns about getting too far from home with tires so old.

It looks like the tires from Jeggs will be on back order for a while.

Good morning-
Does anyone have the patterns for a 26/7 Roadster Interior and would be willing to share them? I'd be willing to purchase them as well. If someone has the patterns for a 26/7 Roadster Top I'd be interested in those as well.
Thanks,

Here is a 1924 Hoover bodied TT funeral coach. According to the article it was in good shape and then recently restored. It sold at auction for $44.000 dollars.
Wonder how it would be looked upon at a car show or a parade. Interesting to be sure.

Gosh, it would cost my family/clan a bundle to hire it up here for me in a wood toe-pincher casket. They wouldn't.
I've been told I have to buy my casket early from a concern close by. Ugh, concern = builder, mfgr or company.
Beautiful hearse/funeral coach!

Wasn’t there a project several years ago to reproduce a certain amount of Model T’s. It may have been to celebrate the the centennial of the 1909 Model T. I recall it was discussed on the forum for a short time, but never heard anything else about it. How many were made and what became of them? Jim Patrick

From what I can find, there were only 6 made. I heard from the Forum that 4 of them are with Greenfield village. One is overseas, and one is with a museum somewhere in the United States. This is from the old Forum, so I do not know if the information is still up to date.

I have had a look at my frame and removed that small screw.
It's hard to see exactly what's there, but it goes through the outer frame part, then another piece - as you show, and then I can see threads so I think there may be a small nut.
Is you frame fully painted? I wouldn't assemble it until it is painted.

Hi Everyone,

I agree with you.
FYI - my understanding is - the base crank
is manufactured overseas - imported
then finished to spec - both the Model T
and Model A use the same base crank
as possibly other applications do.
There is no reasonable explanation
for the manufacturer of the crank
to ignore their customer completely.
For awhile I was...

I agree with Scott, a single disc spacer of correct thickness is best for reasons cited. I have found numerous original fiber spacers in place in old differential cages, so these parts functioned to some extent in some instances. The rear axle rebuild guide suggests 'new' fiber discs are not thick enough, as you have confirmed. I found the same...

As stated above you first need to get the axle & its parts back to their correct position.
There may be a reason that the perches are on backwards and that is if they had bee-hive Hassler Shocks (pancake style did not have the reversed)
