I'm finally getting around to rebuilding some Holley NH carbs. Today I stuck a new throttle shaft into each one to see if the hole is wallered out . Checking twelve bodies, I found the hole worn enough for the shaft to wobble in twelve of them. Some wobbled a little, and some wobbled a lot, but all were worn. From this I assume that most of the NH...

Maybe once pressed into the driven plate it would tighten up and need reaming, but as it is it feels loose.
Right. How it fits before installation is kind of immaterial. Install it and see what you've got. If it's still not right, push it out again and get a bushing with a smaller ID, then install it and bore it to size.

I have just finished fitting five 1970 model Olympic tyres I found last winter. They had shrunk an inch in diameter and had to be stretched over a series of deflated 14 tyre/rim combinatios of varying diameters. The final stretch was done on a 23 split rim. This one had a tiny hole in the tube, so off it came for patching.

Steve, Henry built a few million Ts without any flaps. I believe he did include a narrow rubber rim strip in the wire wheels, likely to prevent welding flashes from puncturing the tubes. As Dan said, the wide drum and the driven plate are drop in fit. No alterations needed. Wanting to use a wide band on that drum leads to multiple changes.
Using a wide drum on an earlier transmission is a good idea. Finding an early drum and a matching driven plate is difficult. Mating an early drum to another driven plate will often lead to...

If not, it is very well hand made. The mounting flange is perfect. The soldered seam on the side is neatly formed, and the end fits precisely, with a slight roll over on the sides.

That is a valve exerciser . It is used to cycle (open and close) water valves to ensure the valves will operate properly when needed. We had a modern hand held model to cycle all of the fire water valves twice a year to keep them operable and find any that had froze from rusting and needed to be replaced. Here's a link to modern ones:

Are radiator emblems safe to use? What's the best way to attach them?
Last post
I use Craig's technique with one addition. I cut a backing piece of rubber from an old inner tube to back the inside plate. That way very liitle tension is needed on the nuts, and the load is more evenly distributed on the fins while cutting down on vibration. The same could be done behnd the emblem on the front of the core.

After you move the gas tank and the seat riser rearward,

My last post on this thread. My parts were shipped by Langs Thursday 2/16 they got here today 2/18. From Massachusetts to Alpine, Ca 30 miles from San Diego. Not only did they come today, but they were on the porch. Our mail box is 1180' from the house, but they got to the porch and also todays regular mail! USPS was good to me.

After taking a through inventory of the 25 Touring purchased last summer, I discovered a lot of pieces missing. Looked for individual pieces/parts and ran across a COMPLETE 24 rolling chassis W/ Ruckstell! Picked up the whole chassis for the price of the Ruckstell alone.

John, point taken.
The brake mounted solenoid disconnect was only in the event I forgot to disconnect at the main. I like the idea of mounting on the Ruckstell.

I don't remember where this one came from. Maybe here. It seemed like a nice one. The condition is interesting as well as the luggage rack, extended top rests and relocated tail lamp.
Maybe someone knows more.

Putting new valves in 1922 engine. Should both valves be closed when No. 1 piston is at TDC.

Rocking is that one valve is just about to close and the other is just about to open, so in other words if you turn the crank a little each way the valves are rocking on the seats in the block.

My 1917 came with a Holley G which I had rebuilt by Russ Potter. With it my car started easily and ran smoothly. Being a bit of an experimenter, I bought a swayback NH to see the difference. Other than being a little harder to start when cold, the NH appears to have more ooomph than the G.
When I had my transmission rebuilt and engine refreshed...

There are times when a lighter con rod bolt helps when balancing the big end. Less material to remove from the cap and rod.

If a pair of used cam bearings, lightly oiled, fit a new camshaft without...

Built this jig years back. The cores must have rough mating surfaces imo if they don’t look as if it’s a fresh break on each half the shells are no good. Here’s the jig I use, then chuck the bearing and cut it to fit the camshaft in a lathe. I’m at 903-824-1949 if you have questions.

If it was working before you did the work and removed the hogs head, then look at only the things you physically actually worked on for the problem. Only exception would be the battery. Depending on how long it was not used, it could be dead. If the battery is good, then anything you actually worked on could be causing the problem. Not likely the...

At some point, perhaps by 2040, motorsports will be banned, and vehicular competiton will be limited to gravity powered platforms. At that point, activists will begin the long march toward a total global ban on all competitive activity of any kind whatsoever, war being the only exception. Governments do love their wars.

I believe the confusion comes from so many different terms (or words) to explain the two driveline ratios (or positions) of the Ruckstell; some say low-Ruckstell and high-Ruckstell , or underdrive and overdrive etc, etc,......

I own two T's. A 1915 touring and a 1926 roadster. Both have Ruckstells. The only thing I will add is that a Ruckstell is not a overdrive or a high speed option. It is an intermediate gearing option. It's great for cruising SLOW when in Ruckstell high. bobt
