One of the Model A groups in Wisconsin invites the Milwaukee Model T Club to join them in a fall outing. Usually Mike Zahorik and I join the group on a tour of SE Wisconsin. This year the tour went to the Rushing Waters Fishery, The Applebarn Orchard and Winery, and Gus's for ice cream. For me it was a total of about 110 miles. Mike could not make...

Really nice pics, and looks like a great time Dave. Thanks for sharing.
Over here, about a 15 minute T drive we also have a fish hatchery, right next to a huge bunch of trout streams, people come to feed the trout daily, the water just boils with them when we feed them. Fun to watch them swim in place against the strong current of those streams....

I just wanted to share my experience with everyone that may care to hear. Friday was the day. I took an entire day of PTO time to just relax. I've been very slowly getting a Speedster my father had built over 22 years ago back in working order. Sounds like a lot of fun! The Kevlar bands are only for low, reverse, and brake. The high gear clutch is a multiple disk steel clutch which runs in oil. Sometimes people put in aftermarket clutch disks and they might not take to slipping as much as the original type disks. So if you have a more modern replacement high speed clutch, it might have...

The 1912 Packard bus although challenging was a hoot to work on & drive. It weighed so much that it broke many of the tiles it's pictured on when driving over them. It had a battery ignition starting system that worked most of the time, that's good because the hand crank is almost chest high.
You just have to love this old stuff.

I'm with Jeff - a spoke shave and patience. Once you get the shape a sander can help a little but you don't want to get too aggressive with power tools.

Lot S93 is listed as a 1910 Model T Ford. It its a roadster style body with a mother in law seat. I do not see any actual 1910 parts. It has a later chassis and what looks like a replacmen t reproduction body. Go take a look. Elmer had at one time a 1909 that had a later engine. At that time he would not ley me take a close look at the chassis.

The unsuccessful bidder apparently thought it was worth $17,500, so the successful bidders was willing to go $100 more.
Goes to show what a Model T can bring at auction, and if it's painted hot re-sale red ....sky's the limit!

Yes. Any deviation from the norm is a problem. Every spring I have ever seen has the ends of each leaf sitting on the top of the underlying leaf and when taking the spring apart, the leafs do not stay together. Ideally, there is a uniform space of about 3/8” between each leaf as the leafs separate. If there are no spaces, and the spring leafs fit...

I’ve changed a few sets of bands by removing the hogs head. I want to try to do a set through the hole. I have detachable ears. I will try on my ‘24 or ‘22 and they do not have newer larger brake drum. The one car just needs brake band the other needs all 3. I’ve been told it’s too hard, it will distort the bands, I need to feed them in front of...

Mr. Snow got that good by replacing bands every 3,000 miles or so, or 6 months whichever came first... and he never suffered any other consequences of having his cotton lined, misshapen bands stuffed into the transmission through the transmission cover other than having to change them every 3000 miles or every 6 months.

Hey All,
I am installing a new firewall. I have it all ready except for the finish. It is made of birch plywood and it is very blond, almost white. I have seen others in pictures and they appear to be stained a darker color.. Any advice about a stain that was used. We have a 1916 touring. I also have a new patent plate to install. Where should it...

There are about 20 revisions to these firewalls/dash therefore you would have to know what revision applies to what model. They are made somewhat generic and additional holes may need to be drilled where needed. The frame space is 86/125 = .688, a standard grade of plywood is
5/8 = .625 therefore 5/8 plywood will slide in with .063 clearance and...

The hood former does have a hole for the hood pivot rod. The radiator support rod goes through the wood dash and is fastened with a nut. Yes the hole in the hood former would be exposed to the weather even with the hood pivot rod inserted. They were a size for size fit when new so that minimal water would get in. What torque should I use for my wire wheels? I am using washers under the nuts to protect the powder coat.

I use a regular 1/2 ratchet handle, 4 extension, and a quality deep socket. The ratchet handle is close to 9.5 from the center of the drive square to the end of the handle I grip the outer third of the handle.

Size of pitman arm and tie rod balls?

With the steering all apart I can upgrade anything that needs it. I measured the pitman arm and tie rod balls. They look ok (not too worn) but they are both a bit out of round. But, I don’t know how big new unworn ones are so I can’t really judge how worn they are. The drag link had a bent penny in both ends so there is some wear in the system. It...
Last post
That’s my thinking. The parts are pretty cheap and I have it apart already. I am adding Apco caps to the drag link. To deal with any wear in the Rod.

Does anybody know of a source for the Funprojects voltage regulators?
Last post
I intend to bring the field ground wire out through an insulated terminal in the generator body, leaving the third brush arrangement intact. I believe that would allow using a 2 or 3 element 6 volt Delco type regulator for automatic general regulation and using the third brush to pre-set a fixed limit on the maximum charge rate. Alternatively,...

I am trying to adjust my free neutral on my 21 touring. I have a good neutral with the brake lever straight up but when I come to a stop at a light and depress the pedal for neutral it wants to creep. I presume I need to adjust the clutch lever bolt but do I back it off or turn it in ? Also I have read that there should be some free play on the...
Last post
The multiple disk clutch submerged in oil will have a bit more drag than the clutch in a more modern stick shift car, or an automatic in neutral. With a T, you might still experience some drag when pushing the car on level surface, but if it is in neutral, you should be able to push it without turning the engine, and also be able to crank without...

I’ve heard it can be bent cold with LARGE wrenches. Not wanting to buy tools just for one job.
Last post
It does depend whether the lever is bent to the side or to the front/back. Sideways bends are easy to fix with two large crescent wrenches, one set to the thickness of the handle and the other adjusted to the thickness of the first. This second one is the lever for the bend.
If somehow the bend is fore and aft, heat will likely be needed to...

When I hook power to it I can get the shaft to turn about a 1/16 and then it won't turn any further. My question is, do you have to change how the brushes are wired? The diagram I...

It appears that while you had things out to modify, coils got rearranged. You'll have to undo that error.

I am going to inspect a '26 closed metal cab TT tomorrow, and I value the insight from those on this forum to help me. Are there any common problems or hard-to-acquire parts I may need to be aware of? Are the metal phone booth cabs any more scarce or common? This truck has a two speed rear but no aux trans. Thank you in advance!

A hearty thank you for all the good information! I am going to keep looking for now, the truck I had the pleasure of looking over needed a bit much for the price. All wheels needed respoked, the front spring needed replaced, hood and radiator did not line up, among other things.

You do not want flat surfaces or right angles on a pressure vessel. They will FAIL. A vessel designed to hold pressure may be destroyed if vacuum is applied. Gasoline tanks and propane tanks are built very differently, and it's not just for looks.
