As I explore superior carburation and breathing for the intake side of my speedster, I'm aware the downstream flow should get attention as well.
I have one of the header plates as a base for fabricated exhaust. This seems like a lot of work, so I'm also thinking about the accessory dual exhaust manifold the vendors carry.

Noel, your upgrades are exactly what I have on my roadster, with one exception. I run an E Timer, and I love it! On a recent tour I did have an intermittent skip under power when cold. I think I have a spark plug breaking down a bit.
I forgot, my Ruckstell has a 3.25:ratio gearset.

Looking for photos or information on Model T split wishbone setups from the 1920s or 1930s. I am particularly interested in how the wishbone rod mounted to the frame. I don't really want to use a modern ball joint style mount as it won't look correct.

That is a terrific photo and I love it every time I see it. The detail of parts scattered about the shop is great. Not to mention the prospect of beams slipping.
Here are a few comments from before.
Many of the new folks on the forum have not had the chance to see it. The rest of us will still enjoy it.

Is there a source for Hartford tubes in the US? I need a pair of 30x3s. The only source I see currently is in the UK.
Barring that, is there an alternate reliable tube available in the US?

You can also use them for the transmission cover. There you only need two. Install them before you remove the cover and take them out after you replace it, so there's no chance of dropping one into the Black Hole of Misery.

You are correct Mark. The difference in the arms matters when they are exchanged. Later model pan arms when fitted snugly to the flat flange on an earlier pan results in the pan sitting lower in the frame, because the distance from the bend in the arm to the ear at the top is longer an the later arms.

Your car appears to be within about 1 1/2 of the chassis height on my car. That's well under a 10% difference, which I think is no cause for alarm with new or re-worked springs. Two weeks ago, my engine started having a random miss, most noticeable on a hard pull. Compression test showed 50 to 60psi. I poured Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder thinking that after sitting up most of the winter, my valves may be sluggish and not closing on time , due to fuel deposits on the valve stems, even though the gas had been drained...
Last post
I put a cup of that Marvel Mystery Oil in my engine.
That made the bands so slick that the brake became totally non-functional.
Fortunately, it was noticed when no one was stopped in front of me.
The Low Band was not very good then, but got me started.

As I begin this project I figured I would start a thread to document my progress. I make replacement bushes using old king pin bushes. They are the correct OD, and the worn ID can be bored to suit the new tie rod end bolt. You can even leave some of the kingpin Bush head to act as a thrust to take the weight of the tie rod.

Bruce, you have done exactly what I have done in the past. The little colour chips in the books are way too small for me to get an idea of the overall effect, so I look for a car with the colour I'd like to use. Your fuel tank does the same thing. On my last two restorations I was able to access areas of the original colour in behind the rear...

Didn’t know if anyone else saw this, but this seems to be a recent addition to the pavilion. We went by this weekend on the way back from Orange Beach, thought I would share these pictures. Looks to me a later than 1918 model T but 🤷♂️. It was neat to see one out in the wild, my kids could see what one with a body looked like 😂...

I was reading my dogeared copy of the fast ford handbook, looking at period ignition systems. The section on Nosch distributors recommends the manual advance distributor for racing but says that the “…Bosch compensating system, with governor for automatically advancing and retarding the spark according to the speed of the engine, would be a...

Hello all, I've looked at some different sources on the web as well as doing a search of this forum. My interest is in knowing roughly what my '23 Touring would have cost when new--1n 1923 dollars, that is. As you're probably aware, when an antique car comes on the scene people are invariably interested in knowing all about it or at least asking...

Interesting comments, thanks. Yes, it would be interesting to know how many of today’s dollars would be needed to make the equivalent purchase in 1923.
I’ll provide this link with no further comment other than to say I take everything on the internet with a grain of salt. And the other thing I’ll say is that I didn’t pay much more for my ‘23...

I am in the process of restoring a 1911 T touring car. Like renovating an old house, digging into a car that old will inevitably result in some surprises. The car spent about 110 years in southern California before making its way to Kansas last year. Overall the body and wood are in very good shape, as you would hope for a car that spent most of...

From Russ,
Wayne,
I believe in Russ' case, the wheels looked pristine, due to the cracks and voids having been filled with some filler and then nicely painted. It was only after the wheel collapsed that the hidden damage was made known.

That was the impression I got from studying the pictures I did see. I would really have liked to...

I will be removing the engine from my 1927 coupe. It looks as if I should remove the clutch peddle to get the engine out.
What is the best way to remove it.
Thanks

Yes, so much easier today than when my Dad was doing it. He had a block and tackle tied to a tree branch, working in sand, alone, usually at night after work using a single globe light!
Engine lifts, concrete floor, led lights and help these days is a breeze he reckons!

1910 Fuel line

Does anyone have pictures or routing diagram of the fuel line for 1910. The sediment bowl is on the outside of the frame rail. My question is does it go over or under the frame. There is a hole in the splash apron that the previous owner ran a rubber line up and over the frame. I know this will create a air block. Just would like to put it back...

I’m sure this is pretty simple, but I’m making it more difficult. This car came to me with one short brake rod (installed) and what I assume is two correct ones, not installed. One still had the sticker on that said 3468C. When I install the right ones they seem to set the brake, although I haven’t tested it yet. The problem comes when I push the...

One needs to remember. At the time these cars were being built and sold, roads weren't very good. A lot of people feared fast automobiles, and many towns still had speed limits under ten miles per hour. Many people had never traveled faster than a good horse could walk. And if you think that silly little seat is uncomfortable? You need to spend a...

I attended my good friend's estate auction yesterday. The 1923 roadster and 1917 touring, both older restorations with wear and good runners brought $17,000 each. The parts and accessories were high also. Good for us owners, tough for new buyers.

Anyone ever try making their own, even if it was just for decoration?
It seems cheaper than getting one for $245...

Coming back from a tour today...I had less than 2 gallons in my 23 oval tank. Was going up a fairly steep drive...slowly. It was about 250 yards long. It leveled out for about 100 yards and then all of a sudden the car quit. Ran flawlessly for about 70 miles today. I checked the fuel, got back in and it fired right up. So did I starve it going up...
