I Want to Buy Your Item: Call Me...

Post by Jerry VanOoteghem » Mon Dec 08, 2025 12:16 pm

Just an observation I've made lately with regards to items in the Classified section, be it for cars or parts. It seems often times "these days" when an individual is interested in buying a certain item, they will reply to the ad by asking to be contacted by the seller. WHAT?? If you want to buy an item, why on Earth would you make the seller come looking for you? If they have what you want/need, common sense would seem to dictate that you make the effort to communicate with the seller. I don't just see that here, but also on several other hobby forums. Am I off base here? Anyway...

I've had that happen multiple times and all have been Forum Members

If they won't take the time to contact me directly, I will not take the time to contact them - and that is because I've found that nearly 100% of the time when I DID go to the effort to contact them they never displayed the courtesy of bothering to answer back.

I guess their initial lack of motivation should be the telltale sign of future lethargy.

Any sensible buyer would contact the seller, if that person was actually interested in what was offered.
Any sensible seller would provide enough information to allow an interested buyer to make contact.

NO bots here. No AI, no "mobile device", no self-driving anything. No laptop, either.
