Flywheel Oil Slingers with Full Pressure Oiling

I'm running a full length Model B crank with a rear driven VW oil pump and full oil pressure. Before I drill and tap all the holes in the flywheel for the slingers (I had to use this shorty style, thanks Dan McEachern, to clear the oil pump), I thought I'd solicit some advice. With the slingers I'll get oil to the transmission bands, without them I'd have to plumb a separate oil line from the relief valve bypass to the transmission. I prefer to run the bypass oil line to the timing gear (a shorter line than to the transmission) and allow the slingers to take care of the transmission. Your thoughts? Thanks

I drill a 5/32”hole in the transmission shaft about 3” deep from the flange and then a 1/16” hole sideways into it. Yes you need to drill in from the end of the crank flange until you hit the rear bearing hole.
I have also tubed the relief oil to the top of the bands , but probably not necessary

Definitely not needed. The flywheel alone will sling plenty of oil. I have been running without slingers for 20 years or more.

With a splash system however, it's a good idea to have an accessory oil line that moves oil to the front of the engine, especially when climbing steep hills.

A story about accessory oil lines: I was helping a friend rebuild a Model T engine. When we got to the part of attaching the accessory oil line, he tried to clean out the attachment at the pan and found the attachment had not been drilled completely through.

Once again the old saying: It is safe to assume that one should not assume anything.
