Run Bd rod attachment.

Post by Campbell Tellman » Sun Jun 05, 2022 5:04 pm

Hey All!
We are starting on a 1916 touring car. The rods between the running board supports have mismatched bolts. I wonder if someone could post a picture of the correct hardware. Maybe a description would do.
Thanks in advance.

You mean the truss rods that run between the running board irons? If so, one is straight across, the other has a dip in it to clear the torque tube/radius rods.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Campbell, do you mean the threaded rods have mis-matched NUTS? In my experience, this is one place where plain hex nuts were used, with no split pins.

I have since learned they are the truss rods. One straight and one with a dip. I believe 1/2 inch stock. I have some square nuts and some hex nuts on this car so that is why I am wondering the correct fastening.
Thanks,
