Snyder 12 volt gear reduction starter
Has anyone had experience or purchased one of these starters? Thinking of purchasing one when I install my Fronty engine in my 1914 roadster.
Just wonder how it functions ease of installation, and overall performance.
thnx

Re: Snyder 12 volt gear reduction starter
I have one on the shelf waiting for its turn. There has been discussion of some screw counterbores that have broke thru and caused oil leaks, but I believe this has been fixed in more recent production. The starter itself is a tried and true design, simply the adaptation to a T is relatively new. I’m really looking forward to not having a bendix drive anymore (or a bendix drive cover!), or all those little pieces that fall into the oil pan when the springs break!

Re: Snyder 12 volt gear reduction starter
I installed one on my 26 Hack 'just because', ...and I like it. Once you get familiar with the sound it makes when cranking the engine, you can spot other Ts with them under the hood. Add me to the list of satisfied owners.

Re: Snyder 12 volt gear reduction starter
I purchased a WOSP starter from Snyders’s to install on ‘24 T. I agree with all the positive comments from other posters, it doesn’t sound like old Mopar starter. The only problem was an oil leak thru the starter body, 2 starters installed with same problem , ( search WOSP starter oil leak correction) in this forum for the fix. The problem of counter bores breaking thru didn’t exist, also the cooperation of Snyders’s to find a cause of the oil leak problem was great. I am sure the manufacturer will address the problem in the future. Also in the process of dismantling the starter housing I reinstalled bolts one at a time with blue Locktite . I hope this helps you decide.

Re: Snyder 12 volt gear reduction starter
I have had one on my Model A for several years. The starter gear engages before it starts turning. Very easy on ring gears.
