Coil box top for a 25
Asking for a friend, does anyone know if you can get an aftermarket top for a 25 coil box…..or used?

The lid was virtually unchanged from 1918 through 1925 model year. I have no idea about current availability, however nice reproductions had been made for years. I would suggest calling your preferred parts supplier for one of those. Decent original covers/lids still seem to be around often enough. Although there are probably ten coil boxes around for every lid.

The later lids up to 25 are still around. I wouldn’t buy a repro just yet. Originals can still be found fairly easy. Lang’s has lots of good used parts. Call and ask if they have a good original.

Lang’s has lots of good used parts.
All the parts dealers do. In fact I believe Bob Bergstadt quit selling any new parts at all. If Don Lang doesn't have it, call around among the others.

The differences in construction also allude to price the early one piece version is quite expensive ($122.95) but the best repro. There were issues with the 1925 style reproductions with spot welded ends that caused the lid to have a warp. I don't think these are offered anymore. 1925 Coil box lids differ from the earlier ones in that the catch for the snap is not separate any more. That part was stamped into the lid prior to the assembly of the lid.

You should post up a list of all the many different parts/pieces that make up a correct 1925.

Can you please tell me where the part number was stamped on the lid (top , back, shelf) & Ford script which sid panel was stamped with it (left or right facing the front), I'll update some pictures I have and add to this discussion. The 25 lid is identified by the upper latches that are formed into the side panels, as opposed to the earlier latches that are tabbed into slots cut into the side panels. Those tabs are bent in to attach the latch to the side panel. There may be a letter suffex change, but I cant say I have ever seen a part number on the lids.

I don't recall if there was a separate part number for the 1925 lids. That would only be available in the record of changes quite possibly only a factory number.
People with 1925's need to know, the 1926 models were already in the works. and there were all kinds of 1926 parts in the works. Here are a few of the changes I can think of offhand. 5-1 steering, the 8 leaf front spring, which is actually one inch lower than the 7 leaf. Ford began adding a lot of steel in the cowl to strengthen the body, and it also reduced the amount of wood up front too. Because of this, Ford introduced a 1925 only floormat. Ford accessories were introduced in late 1924 most likely for the 1925 model year. Most are aware the frame was changed too to accommodate the new style parking brake quadrant, which only used the two outer holes of the old style quadrant. A lot of the left over 1924 frames had the two inner holes still visible. Most probably know the rear curtain of 1924 was modified for a new rectangular rear window light, because of the introduction of the rear view mirror. All upper windshield frames had the holes for the rear view mirror, whether you ordered one or not! The transmission brake drum was changed in 1926 to accommodate the new lug shoes that are now used on the 1926 drums. I must have forgotten something, but that's it for now.

Tool tray under the front seat between the gas tank & seat base.
26 style carb mixture/choke rod.
Change in the carb adjuster hole divet angle in the dash for the single choke & mixture rod.

I agree with John. I forgot to mention the 1926 style carburetor adjustment, which was introduced mid year. Another thing that happened because of that is the dash had to be slightly reconfigured to accommodate the new 1/4" adjustment rod. The old mixture rods were 3/16". The toolbox on the roadster in back of the gas tank has two special brackets that support the tool box.

If the original poster is still looking for a '25 coil box cover, I have one. It has the correct shelf inside to hold the coils in place and it has the correct upper latches that are stamped into the cover itself. It does not, however, have the part number nor the Ford script stamped in either side panel. This is an original piece with some black paint remaining on it and some patina also. I can send pictures if you like. Price is $25.00 plus shipping or pick it up here.

Allan, this is from the encyclopedia regarding engine pans.
1924-1927
3100 (T1526E)
(No part number change from earlier style.) Similar to 1917-
24 but now with larger “four-dip” inspection plate. (New
pan began in July 1924.) Pressed-steel reinforcing brackets
used at the engine/ transmission junction corners sometime
later. By November 1925, all engines also had the support
straps from the motor mount to the transmission bolts at the
rear of the cylinder block (1926 models and later).
