More pictures of Steve sitting in my 1913 today in Weiser, Steve was smiling ear to ear, especially after I cranked one time and Breezy started right up.

Was cold 30° and fog was setting in, so didn’t spend a lot of time outside.

Steve, Merry Christmas one wish fulfilled today, he wanted to see a T and YES, sit behind the wheel again.

Joe K, You better be careful! Steve looks right at home sitting there.

Steve J, I am so pleased to hear you finally on the road back to your wonderful and inspirational old self again! It was touch and go for awhile there, and a lot of us were worried we might lose you way too soon. Keep getting better.

Good to see you behind the wheel of a T. But don't freeze yourself! surprised to see leaves still on the trees at 30 degrees. That is below freezing. Also be careful not to slip on any ice. Take it slow and easy. If you can wait a few months, it will be time to spend time outdoors and maybe start driving again. Maybe by June you can come to San Diego and join our national tour.

Best photo of the month!!!!

Too bad you could not go for a little ride, even if just around the block.

Next spring, maybe a chance to even drive it a bit.

Thank you so much.

Hey Steve, Greetings from northern Ohio. Great to see you back in the drivers seat even though it's for a photo op. Praying that soon you will be driving for real. I'm wanting to know if those spokes on your motivation device in the background are actually Hickory. God be with in your recovery. Jim Riedy

Mr Jelf looks right at home in your beautiful roadster. I think of him every time I walk by the rear axle rebuild project I should be working on. His previous axle rebuild posts inspired me to do my first rebuild a few years ago.

Hi Steve. Greetings from the great white north. Good to see you in the driver's seat again. Slow and steady wins the race but your progress has been terrific. I never met you although I did see you at the MTFCA booth at Hershey a few years ago and have often visited your "Dauntless Geezer" site for info and ideas. Keep up the good work and know that all of us are rooting for you.

Glad to see you back on the forum Steve. Been following regularly since September and you're a great example of "slow and steady wins the race". You might remember you and I and Mike Walker spent some time together down at Chickasha, but it's been several years ago. At age 82, I'm not sure I'll ever make Chickasha again but maybe the Old Car Festival. Anyway, rehab therapy is usually pretty hard work but worth the effort, but the harder you work at it, the more you get out of it. Went thru' 6 weeks of cardiac rehab after bypass surgery and the effort was sure worth it. Hang in there, work hard, and remain the tough ol' geezer we all know you to be,....harold

Steve,
Merry Christmas my friend. You are and have been an inspiration for a long time and especially during your recent recovery period. We know you have put a lot of perspiration into getting back into the Model Ts you love sooooo much. I look forward to seeing you at Chickasha again in the future. A Christmas card is in the mail to you.
Enjoy,

Glad to see you're on the mend. You are like a T slow but your get there. I feel confident that I will be seeing you at a future Old Car Festival.

Steve is in Room 114, across from the nurses station. I hear he keeps up quite a few conversations with the pretty ladies.

Additional info: Looks like he will be moving to Lomita, California soon to be with his brother. News is on FB.
He sure is taking the long route back to Kansas.

Dear Family & Friends of Steve Jelf
It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve sent out an update on Steve and we’ve got some news, so here goes…
Steve has improved a LOT. Because of the level of progress, insurance is actually going to be kicking him out of the facility he’s in a couple weeks. We’re awaiting an actual date in the next few days.
While his improvement is notable, he still has a way to go as there are still issues that make independent living impossible. Long story short, Steve will be moving to Lomita, California to live with his brother Mike for the forceable future. For that’s that need/want this address, here you go:
Mike Jelf
1827 W. 254th St
Lomita, CA 90717
Attn: Steve Jelf
Also, as of today, Steve once again has a phone. Feel free to give him a call.
I’ll send another of these emails out to let you know when Steve will be leaving.
If someone could re-post this to the Model-T forum I’d appreciate it.

Nothing better than see old friends gather :-) And you clearly enjoyed it, Steve!

I'll use this opportunity to wish you a merry chrismas and a progressive newyear.
Here's some nice pictures to watch.

Dave:

Thanks for the update.

Some of us do not have the fancy modern computer communication stuff!

We hope Steve continues with his improvement. We hope he enjoys the warmer weather in CA.

Think Henry Ford called his 1926/1927 vehicles the improved cars! Is Steve going to become the younger improved model??

The Chicago land Model T Ford guys.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Steve. You are an amazing man. Most people half your age would not have faired nearly as well as you.
I see that you may be heading out to Lomita. If that happens, I would like to pay you a visit and shake your hand. The last time we talked was at the Corona/ Riverside Model T Swap Meet many years ago, when you were selling your signs.
It would be nice to see you again and have a brief chat.
Happy Holidays, Steve.

Steve J,
We, many of us, think of you often every day! Today being Christmas is a special time for most of us, and therefore a day upon which we reflect on many things in our lives. We think of things, and people, that help to shape us, and guide us in better directions.
You are one of those wonderful people that make the world a better place, you help to make us better people, and we are all better because of you.

We wish we could be with you today, just to spend some time with a wonderful friend.

Keep getting better. Merry Christmas, and please have a wonderful New Year!

Steve, if you ever doubted whether you had friends or people who cared about you, now you know. I along with the whole forum were aghast when you had your accident and have followed every stage of your recovery. Seeing the photo of you sitting in a Model T gives us all hope, which is so welcome as we face the uncertainties of the new year.

I hope the coming spring will see you getting back to the life you surely miss and that 2024 heralds the return of the "dauntless geezer."

Howdy Steve,
…and may your New Year be infinitely happier than these last several months 😜 You’ve been riding some pretty fancy beds. Think you can go back to that foam rubber pallet I gave you at Chickasha ?..gh

I really couldn't have said it any better than Harvey did, my sentiments exactly. Steve was an inspiration before his accident, driving his roadster everywhere, his recovery makes him even more a role model for life.
Always get a kick out of the Jelf name with my first name being Jeff, I have to wonder, are there any Jeffs in the Jelf family? :D :D
