WTB Coil for a Brush automobile

Post by YellowTRacer » Mon Feb 05, 2024 3:29 pm

Anyone have an oddball coil for a Brush automobile? The Brush only has a single coil and the coil box measures 3 1/8" X 2 1/2" a little different size than a Model T Ford coil and it has 3 contact points/"buttons", one on each side of the upper area and one at the back on the upper area. It's all we need in order to get this contraption running. HELP!!! We're not shopping price, we need a coil.

Ed, if you just need something to get the car running for now, my humble suggestion would be to make a crude box to hold a Model T coil. It won't look right, but it will get you up & running while you continue your search for the correct unit.

Have you checked with Luke at Midnight Coil Repair? He just posted a Brush coil he did on his facebook page.

Thanks Derek, I'll try Luke at Midnite if I can figure out how to reach him. And Mark, I know we could do that, but I also know myself too well. If I do a temporary fix, I won't stay focused on securing the right proper part.

Ed- also check with Ron Patterson or Brent Mize (sp)or any of the other coil guys- they may have the oddball coil you need as well.

You have a point, Ed! Remember, "There is nothing more permanent than a temporary fix that works". :)

If you could, I would look into a Corel t coil inside of a 1 cyl coil box. For my brush it’s what I’m running. I got a new tuned t coil and never have to worry about some weird one off coil.

Hello Ed,

I build and repair a lot of early coils for most cars. Happy to help if you need. Just message me.

Hi David, how can you help me with a coil for the Brush? All I have is the coil box. It's in great condition.

Ed
