1913 Model T Ford Exhaust Pipe
Looking for information on the original Ford drawings for the 1913 Model T exhaust pipe. According to Bruce McCalley’s book, Model T Ford, The Car That Changed The World, in 1913, “the exhaust manifold was modified during production to use the flanged exhaust pipe, instead of having the pipe fitting into the manifold and being sealed with asbestos packing.” Does anyone have the drawing number or part information so that I could purchase the drawings from the Benson Ford Research Center?
Thanks,
Dan

Quite sure Larry "Original" Smith might be able to assist on that.

Dan, so the part number is T4037B and the drawing number is T1829dllr28bl wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:08 pmLooking for information on the original Ford drawings for the 1913 Model T exhaust pipe. You're right on the difference with the straight pipe that slid into the manifold vs the flange.
The Henry Ford has an exhaust pipe drawing T1214 for a 1919 uploaded digitally on their website. The drawing is dated for 1919, but the overall pipe shape didn't change. I think in 1919 they started adding a Ford Script stamp to them. You can purchase a high res drawing I think for like $7
You can contact the Henry Ford and ask them to see if thy have the drawing for T1829 those drawings not already uploaded are $30 a piece.
Here's a link to the drawing. https://www.thehenryford.org/collection ... act/465554

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Unless I'm confusing things, if the "library" and the "research center" aren't indeed the same? I remember seeing something on their website, yes, several months ago saying they were closed with no date set to reopen. I even sent in a request for a build sheet almost a year ago now and have yet to hear from them, but they sure did cash my check okay!! I gotta try contacting them again. Maybe they're up and running now.
