I believe I have found a weavery that can reproduce the original upholstery material for the 1926 Improved Model T Coupe and Tudor. It was used in late 25 and very early 26. This material differs from what is currently available which is the gray striped material. As you can see in the picture, the material is a brownish color with the green stripe. Bill Hirsch had some of this material reproduced years ago but it is long gone. According to a Ford data sheet for the Improved Cars, the Coupe and Tudor first used a "hard" upholstery (the stuff in the picture) and later switched to a "soft" upholstery which I presume is the gray with stripes.
Because my grandfather's 26 Coupe used this material, it is important to me that the interior be as correct as possible. Right now, I have the gray with white stripe material in it but that is more of 27 feature than a 26.
Weaving this material won't be exactly cheap and I don't have an estimate as yet. Since the weavery has a minimum yardage they will produce, I will no doubt have lots of material left over. Any interest out there in this material, so I can recoup some of my cost? I know that's hard to say since I don't have a cost estimate as yet, just gauging to see if there is any interest. Not trying to make a profit, just get what I need and offer the surplus for sale.

Re: Early 1926 Coupe/Tudor Upholstery Material
Hi Mike, thanks. Yes I know you have the gray with green stripe but I am in search of the brown with green stripe. The brown with green stripe was used in early production of the "Improved Fords" from late 1925 to sometime in early 1926. Then it was changed to the gray with green stripe.
Thanks again, and I appreciate all you do for the Model T hobby!

Greg,
I would want to know more about it, but yes, I would be interested in enough for a coupe.

Sounds like the material in my 26 coupe. I'm looking for some old stuff that I can do some mending with and replace some missing pieces around a door.

For comparison, this is the gray with green stripe material. Photo courtesy of Classtique, and this material is available from them.
