Would anyone want to attend an alternate Winter Clinic?

Post by BRENT in 10-uh-C » Wed Dec 04, 2024 9:02 am

About 20+ years ago I hosted a Workshop at my shop that had Tony Cimorelli, and a small host of other guys (-and their gals) attend for a 3-day workshop. At that one, we focussed on fabricating and repairing sheetmetal for a Runabout that Tony was restoring for his wife. At that time Tony was Model T Club webmaster and so we did this as a payback for him keeping the Forum up for us.

So fast forward 20 years. I would love to attend a McPherson clinic however the travel time puts me at a disadvantage ...however since my shop is located 8 hours up from Florida and about 8 hours down from Hershey, or about 8 hours west is Memphis, maybe that could help more attendees on this side of the country.

I have no particular dates in mind, -nor does it even need to be held in the Winter time, but maybe this would be of interest for some. Thoughts??

East Tennessee (Maryville, Knoxville) is my old stomping grounds, and I have family in Chattanooga, so it doesn’t take much to get me down that way. Icing on the cake would be to combine a tour with the clinic.

Sounds like a good thing. Couple ideas.
Have it after schools are out so young guys with school age kids could attend. Also no snow problems for travel.
Maybe ad a one day swap meet with it. We don’t have a PreWar meet in this area.
Let me know if this happens. Thanks Dan

I love the concept enough that for 8 years in a row I hosted teaching events in my garage for members in the area. Covid and other issues shut it down and I hope to get it back going again someday. Giving back and helping others is a big part of being a club member.
While Tennessee is probably too far for me to attend I support the concept.

This is being done on a smaller scale than the McPherson model. Several MTFCA chapters across the country have clinics/workshops. I don't know how many are annual or how many are more often. The MTFCA itself also features workshops at its annual museum homecoming. All this education is a good thing.

Dairyland Tin Lizzies has a Model T University in January where members present topics of interest.

US Hwy 11 starts in New Orleans and goes through Chattanooga and Knoxville. We plan on traveling that route anyway and may make it coincide with your event.
