Ford Head with an 8

Post by jawa » Sat Mar 08, 2025 1:12 pm

The recent dirt track racer I picked up has a Ford Head on it with a number 8 on the front by the water neck. What does the 8 mean? Is there any significance?

Thank you,

Adam

That is most likely a mold number. If your making 6000 a day you need more than one mold.

Looks like you need a new exhaust manifold, too. Yours looks cracked.

Most likely a pattern number.

Here is the exhaust picture. The car is a 1927 Model T dirt track racer that Paul Larson owned. The lake pipe has a manual cut off and so does the regular exhaust pipe. You can make it loud or quiet, whatever fits your mood.

Thank you! I wish I had more information about the car but I didn't get far when I posted it on here a few months back. I have it running now and it is going to be fun to drive this summer.
