Clutch Release Ring Position

I think I installed my clutch release ring in the incorrect location but wanted to confirm before pulling everything apart again. Is the location, as pointed out in the handbook (pictured below) the same as where I put the arrow on my picture? Thank you in advance!

You have it correct - it goes in the slot closest to the spring - not up by the clutch adjustment fingers.

It only fits in one of the 2 cutouts. The front is a larger diameter, larger than the brass throw out will fit into.

Thank you! I pulled the engine out to replace the o rings on the pedal shafts to stop leaks. Now that its back in, I'm trying to adjust my low speed pedal and can't seem to get it dialed in. it seems to either slip, or be too tight.

To easily adjust low: Back off the outside adjuster. Start the motor. Turn in the adjuster until you hear the triple gears change their song. (get noisier)
Back off the adjuster 1/2 turn & lock the nut. You now have maximum optimal adjustment.

If you don't have a solid low pedal engagement, you have a high spot on the band lining or an out of round band. If you used kevlar, you will not be able to get the band adjusted enough to be functional without over tightening the band & risking a broken drum from the friction of that high spot. If this is the case, the band must come back out & be properly reset with the HH off again.

Good. With cotton you can over adjust & the high spot will wear down with no harm to the drum.
Try the adjustment as I described. As the band lining sets, you will need several more adjustments. The re-adjustments will lessen.

Just for clarity, as I reread my post and not sure if I was clear with my explanation. The picture I posted of my transmission, the location where the yellow arrow is pointed is NOT where my clutch ring currently is. That picture is of the transmission cover already installed and the clutch ring is beside the area where the yellow arrow is pointed. Hope that makes sense, lol, just need validation...

Did you replace the low pedal cam and notch? If they're worn, which they pretty much always are, or the pedal is bent forward, it can be impossible to get the band adjusted properly.
