New to me 26 Touring paint question

Attached are pictures of one of a couple cars I recently purchased from an estate. Overall, it is a good 50 year old restoration that is showing some wear. My plan is to clean it up, repair what needs it, and drive and enjoy it.

My question today is I plan to rub out the old lacquer paint to shine it up a little. I would also like to touch it up but have no idea what color it is. From the reasearch I've done, it does not appear to be a factor color for a 26-27 T. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Hi Lorien, I agree that the color is not a factory offered color. That said, the paint looks like it's in good condition. You could remove a door or something and take it to a paint store and have them match it for you, then get some to do your touch up work.

BTW, I see you're in Wisconsin also. I'm in Kenosha and wonder if we've met somewhere along the way. I'm wondering where you are. If you'd rather not post your location on the Forum, perhaps you could send me a PM through the Forum.

Easier to take the hood. There is enough of a flat surface so that the paint Store can match it

I have had real good results using an air brush with the paint/laquer mix at the consistency of ink —several light wet coats to bring everything up to same level. Body putty may be needed to obtain level surface prior to painting. Next wet sand with 2000 and compound —than non silicon polish later. Generous over lap. However sometimes you may see a shadow transition —less likely on light colors. Works for me.

Take the gas door to a good automotive paint store and they can match.

I'm in Central Wisconsin just north west of Appleton and about 20 miles east of Iola. In fact, it's a nice drive to the Iola show for a T on all back roads. If the weather cooperates I may take the 26 over for the day. If not, I will have to take the "modern"car (my 1930 Tudor).

I can see a reflection in the paintwork on all panels. How much better do you want 50 year old paint to look? I'd leave it alone and let it show how well it has stood up over time.

Hi Allan,

I agree, the paint is in very good condition for it's age. My plan is to do a good cleaning and a light polish by hand. There are also a few areas that need attention around the cowl under the hood. These are the areas I will likely need to touch up.

I will be there Thursday and Friday as well. My cars are registered in the prewar area right around the corner from the blue ribbon.
