Neway cutter with engine in car.

I have never used a Neway cutter but I hear nothing but high praises about them and I know they are expensive. I own two T's, a 1915 and a 1926. My question is, can you cut the number four cylinder with the engine in the car? I understand that all I need is the 30/60 cutter, the 45 cutter and one adjustable pilot. Thanks, bobt

I have been using Neway valve seat tools for many years. My tools are capable of less than .001” valve seat runout, but it depends on the condition of the seats and especially the guides. Number 4 exhaust is the most difficult to do in a Model T because of the firewall, but removing the firewall helps a lot on pre-‘26 cars.

Removing the firewall will work.
For a 26-7, you can disconnect the motor & pull it forward on the frame rails without fully removing the motor.
However, if there are any other issues like transmission, magneto 4th main leaky/loose or clutch, being half way there, consider pulling the motor.

I cut the seats in my '26 Runabout without removing (or moving forward) my engine. The Neway cutters worked great. I have not cut seats in a Fordor, which may require moving the engine.

I guess I should have added that the 1915 Touring is the one that I'm working on. The 1926 is running GREAT. bobt

Plenty of room when I re-cut my seats with a Neway system I was GREATLY privileged to borrow and be guided step by step, to install new valves in my late 23 touring last May. You have my cell # if you want to talk about the process. Richard C
