1917 oil pan
Does anyone know what month in 1917 they started using the flanged oil pan? Thanks

In my experience, the folded edge on the pan was a progressive introduction. The edges were folded down either side of the pan ears. When the ears were modified, the entire edge was rolled down. Some time later the pressed reinforcements were added either side of the radius rod ball socket.
The pan on my 1917 has the folded edge but no reinforcing ribs beside the socket.
