When I rebuilt my first transmission about 40 years ago, I had difficulty finding anyone that knew the thickness of new clutch disks to determine if they were needed.

A random measurement of what appeared to be slightly used original new disks produced an average .0485 measurement.

A random selection of 8 slightly used original disks produced a .384 measurement. That number multiplying those 25 disks gave a value of 1.2125 inches number for the whole stack of 25 recently new disks.

So, I always suspected the new disks were an even .050 thickness. The new set of 8 dry Turbo 400 disks measured .640 for the eight disk pack total or .080 for the average new disks.

I have not done any recent measurements!
