It has been over 50 years since I have had my rdstr pickup running and I have driven a model t. I have worked on several for other people and given them parts but failed to work on mine and it need quite a bit of work.
Well thanks to the MTFCA and the cars for sale I bought a 23 couple. Needs some paint and a little work but will be up and running.
Need to rework the electrical to the starter including a frame to engine ground strap , want to put a solenoid on it and a disconnect switch.
Dropped the neutral lever today to check the pawl and it needs replaced but I believe I have a neutral lever in the attic.
A question I have is I have seen where others have glued on a front crank seal to stop leakage.
How is it done and what seal as there is a quite a bit of wash back under the car starting at the front and the inspection cover does not appear to be leaking at the bolts but the seal looks like it has been leaking?

Be sure the oil level is not too high, and use 20W oil or, better yet, 10W30 oil.

I use the woven seal from a Model A for the front seal on the crankcase and timing cover. I leave the ends of the felt at the block to hogs head long and work the felt into the groove with a bit of gasket seal. They do tend to leak a bit where the crankcase and the joint between the engine and hogshead come together. Also a bit around the 4th main is the fit is not good. The babbitt must be flitted to the 4th main. Also the gasket goes between the 4th main and the crankcase/hogs head but no gasket between the ball joint cover. Then pump plenty of grease around the U joint to minimumize transmission oil from running down the driveshaft into the rear axle.
