Jim Finney

Post by Scott Rosenthal » Tue Oct 07, 2025 8:28 am

It is with much regret that our dear friend Jim Finney passed away this morning. Nearly eighty years dedicated to the hobby, Jim was for decades one of the hubby's most prolific ambassadors. Know to his good friends as Mr Towncar, He will be sadly missed by all who knew the exceptional gentleman that he was.

He was a good guy. Helped me out a few times. If I called him I had to make sure to allot extra time as our conversations went on for a while.

I spoke to Jim Finney about forty years ago. I remember him as a nice man.
I think I might still have a mimeogragh type of catalog he sent me with parts he had for sale.

He took a liking to me when I was 12 years old. Treated me like an adult and would take the time to show me the difference in parts by their years especially in the brass era. I am grateful to call him a friend. Jim would talk for hours on the phone and oddly having grown up in the hobby we knew a lot of the same guys. The hobby lost a great asset with the passing of Jim. I’m for one feel lucky to have known him. He will be missed by the Eyres of Michigan.
