1915 Runabout Side Curtain Drawings

Post by mortier » Sat Jan 03, 2026 9:23 am

I contacted the Benson Ford Library looking for the 1915 Runabout Side Curtain drawings, and the librarian said they need the correct part numbers. The parts list they referred me to has many that seem to fit the bill. Could anyone tell me what part numbers I should request?

Thanks for your help. My car is missing some of the fasteners, and I thought the plans might show where they were.

Phillip,
For 1915 the only fasteners are the common sense fasteners on the bows and the body. There are no windshield fasteners for 1915.
I believe the post-1919 side through 1922 sidecurtains with windshield hooks would work if you install side curtain hooks.

For 1915 through at least the 1918 model year, there are two straps at the front of the side curtain to keep it snug at the windshield - one strap goes between the windshield and hinge and the other goes around the sidelamp.

Yes, straps on the side curtain only. No fasteners on the windshield.

Cars equipped with starter motors did not have sidelamps so the engineers had to come up with a way to attach the side curtains... so side curtain hook on the windshield were introduced.

The issue with those numbers is those will only be Assembly Drawings. It likely will have the part numbers to all of the sub-assemblies that make-up the piece however it has been my experience the dimensions will not be included in those drawings. You will need each piece to accurately reproduce the entire curtain.
