Touring top w/flap
I am curious about the touring tops. Which years typically had the flaps on the back or was an aftermarket thing.

Re: Touring top w/flap
Do you mean the roll-up back panel?

Scott,
The roll up rear curtain was used through 1914.
When having a new top made, sometimes a roll up rear curtain is available for later cars. Although not "correct" a roll up rear curtain makes hot summer time touring more comfortable with flo-thu ventilation.
Your car. Your choice.

From the Encyclopedia here is the word on the roll up rear window panel
I believe it went away as a cost cutting, time saving decision.
People have added them to their cars of other years for many reasons but opening the back panel in the hot summer makes it more comfortable and improves visibility.
The roll up rear window returned on some models of Henry's Lady, the new 1928 Model A Ford.
Having one in your car is a personal decision.
It does make it more complicated and expensive to install.

Re: Touring top w/flap
What FEW times I run the '13 with the top up, the rear roll up is ALWAYS rolled up. Even in rain. Be surprised how little if any rain gets in through it when it's open. And, it saves on FUEL! Tops up with stationary rear panel is like driving with a parachute deployed!KWTownsend wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 10:51 amScott,

When ordering new tops from Classtique, on their order form, roll up rear panels are listed as an option on most ant year they supply. They sure are nice providing “ flow thru ventilation” on any touring car!
