Weak mag ?!?

Post by Rich Bingham » Mon Jun 08, 2020 11:03 am

In the thread on the self-destructing magneto, R. V. Anderson commented that a weak mag could indicate cracked magnets. How weak is weak ? What’s the best test for magneto strength ? Do you need instruments ?

My Lizzie starts readily on battery when cold, but I haven’t had a similar response cranking on mag and haven’t worked at it, it’s just too easy on bat ! On the other hand, once warmed up, a quarter turn on mag, and she fires right off. Comments, please ?

An AC voltmeter is useful.

FunProjects St. Louis magneto tester is the best way to measure the output of a Model T magneto.
