Bronze Casting Universal Joints

Post by A Whiteman » Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:35 am

Following the recent post about the bronze torque tube ball joint housing, I have two universal joints with bronze castings. It was suggested these may be model N?

As to sizes, they are slightly longer than a standard T, but not much in it. The diameter of the castings is larger than the T and the flange on drive shaft end is also larger than a standard T (see the pictures below. The standard T universal is in the center and the ones with bronze castings are top and bottom.
The yokes are steel, it is just the (for lack of better description) riveted housings that are bronze.
The 'male' transmission ends are slightly wider than the 'standard' T, but the drive shaft end are much the same size.
The bronze castings have 2 rivets between each yoke compared to 1 in the std T joint.
There are no obvious numbers or makers marks on the 'bronze' joints.

Your thoughts and ID appreciated (they are both 'tight' and look in good shape)

Thanks, Adrian

The top & bottom ones in each photo are for NRS Fords.

They look like very nice ones too!
