Roller Bearing Cap (spool) bolt/stud local Houston source?

Post by ivaldes1 » Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:21 pm

Hi, I am about to put my differential back together, trying for this weekend. Unfortunately I only have 4 studs (1 is chewed up so really 3) and 1 good bolt. I need either 2 bolts or 2 studs. These look uniquely tapered/specialized and are at least a week away if I order from Lang's. I am going to see what I can find in Houston and/or if any Space City T club members might have some but any suggestions? Otherwise I need to wait awhile until I can get them from Lang's.

Those are a "special" thread Ignacio - you won't find them at Bolt depot !

Ignacio, For the open drive shaft spool you will need the six special Ford type bolts. The studs are for the closed spool. See if some one in your local Model T club has at least three such bolts they can sell or even loan you. Set up your ring gear using those three bolts. Then for the other housing on a temporary basis take one of the three bolts plus the one good bolt you have to put things together over the weekend. When the correct six bolts arrive from Lang's, or whoever, you can replace one at a time and return any borrowed bolts before you install the rear axel..
