1926 Headlight Spring

Post by ifrichard » Mon Jun 28, 2021 4:51 pm

Hi,

I cannot figure out how the wire spring is supposed to fasten together. I took apart both headlights and found this spring in front of the reflector instead of behind.

This is how the assembly should look:

I foolishly disconnected the trick wire joint to get the spring wire to fit in the headlight bucket. When I went to check the other headlight, the spring was already apart.

I have searched and cannot find a good image of the spring wire connected together.

The reason that I am working on the headlights is that the bright trim ring fell off and the glass broke. Do I need to secure the trim ring with a sheet metal screw? I have heard that some folks do that.

Thank you, Richard

Look at langs. They have a pretty good picture. Try to fix or replace the bad piece, not a 1/2*** patch job.

Thank you. I was trying to make it much harder and more permanent.

It's just the same way as you would 'hook' your little pinkies together ;)
