missing wheel lug, what kind, where source

Post by NY John T » Thu Jan 21, 2021 12:26 pm

Hi All,
I'm missing one wheel lug from one rim. Does anybody know what kind of lug it is and also where I can source one? As can be seen in the photo, there are two rectangular slots for the lug to fit in. Thanks.

Just did that myself yesterday. There are no new lugs availabe as far as I know. Spare lugs come from junk rims, they are easy to remove and brase in.

A couple of times when I was prepping newly acquired rims for painting I've detected hairline cracks indicating lugs starting to come loose. Once you put a tire on it's hard to tell. If when you snug a rim in place the lug seems to be bending in too much it might bear checking out, even if you have to pull the tire. A good welder can repair them.

Some lugs have 2 tabs & some have 3 - I always "tack weld" the backside for safety.
