1911 Windshield Hardware, Plated or Painted?

Post by It's Bill » Wed Feb 10, 2021 10:26 am

Hello Historians,

I have not been able to find any posts on whether the Rands windshield fastening hardware for a 1911 car is painted or left unpainted. The hinge and firewall connecting tabs are solid brass, and I have discovered what looks like brass plating on the rest of the hardware under the (non-original) paint that still remains. Can someone confirm how these were originally finished? Also, if some pieces were left plated and some were painted, which were which? Need the info for all bolts and brackets, please.

Thanks in advance, Bill
