Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
To fellow Model T members,
I had previously provided a link to the funeral home that will be hosting Stan Howe's funeral service tomorrow June 1st.
The service will be live streamed so you can join in if you wish to do so.
There is also an on-line guest book where you ca leave comments
Obit and info here
https://helenafuneralhome.com/obituarie ... of-helena/
Secondly, I had asked anyone who had a carburetor in for repair with Stan to let me know by email.
There were close to 30 carburetors in various states of repair in boxes with first names only.
I have had notice of 18 to 20 carburetors so far. This information has been passed on to the family.
They have been able to access Stan's email through his computer so they will try to contact some people that way as well.
If you had one in for repair and have not contacted me, please do so by email through this site.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
I watched the service. The combination of my poor hearing and the funeral home's less-then-stellar audio meant that I missed a lot, but I did hear a story that sounded a lot like Stan. When he was teaching school, he would ask the students a question. Stan's rule was that the kids who knew the answer to the question would raise their right hands, and the kids who didn't know the answer would raise their left hands. Stan would call on someone whose right hand was up, so that he wouldn't embarrass a student who didn't know the answer. I wish I could tell him what a great solution that was. R.I.P. Stan.

I to watched the service - or at least what I could get of it. Like Dick, I couldn't hear - or understand - a lot of it.
It is hard to believe that Stan is gone. He was here one minute and gone the next. At least it was only a minute and not something dragged out for a long time.
RIP Stan your music and stories will be around for a long time.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
They did the best with what they had. What I saw was family and friends remembering a special man who presence crisscrossed through all their lives, impacting them all in many different ways. I think Stan’s sudden death will also remind all of us that life is fleeting, and we are here one day, and gone the next. For me, it gives me pause and cause to rethink and prioritize things in my life. Seize the day.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
Dick, I believe there was another line to the left hand / right hand student story as Stan told it.
One day the superintendent of schools came to monitor his classroom and Stan's teaching style.
As he sat in the back of the classroom he marveled at how bright Stan's students were.
They were able to correctly answer every question Stan asked them!
I will miss the entertainment in the rambling conversations we would have over the phone and in person.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
Thank you Harry.
Listening to his service as I type.
Only knowing Stan thru email, I got a taste of his realistic/humor-filled thoughts.
His straight-shootin' emails were always a pleasure especially when we'd talk about farm machinery.
Bless you my friend, I'll meet you another day.

Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated

Harry, it makes more sense that way. I think the only audio on the livestream came from the built-in mike on the camera, so all the people coughing etc. were closer to the mike than the person speaking was. My hearing isn't so great either. I'm glad it was available at all and what I heard was obviously heartfelt. I didn't mean to criticize. Our annual overnight tour is at the end of this month and, although I won't be driving the T this year, I plan to go and will most likely tell people the corrected version of the story.Harry Lillo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:58 pmDick, I believe there was another line to the left hand / right hand student story as Stan told it.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
I, too, watched the service and had trouble with the audio. I did not have to hear all of what was said to understand that all who spoke told stories from their heart. Stan made a deep impression on a lot of people.
RIP my friend.

Re: Stan Howe Service Reminder and Carburetor Information
I thought it was very nice to be able to watch it for those who weren't able to attend in person. What a wonderful, colorful character to have known of.
