Serendipity Strikes - I Met Donnie Brown and his Speedster!

Post by CudaMan » Sun Jun 27, 2021 5:01 pm

I drove down to Clinton, Arkansas this weekend to visit some friends that live in the nearby Holley Mountain airpark. Driving through town, we happened to notice a sign saying the town was going to be having a car show on Saturday, so we went to check it out.

Walking among the cars, we came up to a familiar looking speedster and its owner, Donnie Brown! I introduced myself and we had a great discussion about his car. Donnie has a 3-ring binder with ads for every period accessory on the car. I got so caught up in looking through the binder and talking to Donnie that apparently I forgot to take any pictures of his car! Our discussion got cut short because one of the car show organizers came up and presented Donnie with a big trophy and a photo op.

Donnie, your car looks and sounds great, I enjoyed meeting you! Sorry I didn't take any pictures of you or your car at the show. :)

Well crap, Mark, I remember talking to you and then they wanted to take pictures, but it never dawned on me who you were. I talked to hundreds of people that day. So everything kinda runs together. The car was very well received and discussed by many. Clinton is the town we live in and it is our local car club that puts on the show. So I always try to show one of my Ts. This year was the speedster projects debut. No one had seen anything like it. The event photagapher said he never could get a good photo of the car, as it always had a crowd around it. We usually have over150 cars in the show. I'm not into trophys but I still won the "Best of Show" and the "Sponcers Choice" trophys. Not bad for an old "patina finish" model T.

Ill try to post a couple photos of the car later tonight.

Oops, I spoke too soon, I did take some pictures of Donnie's car! The stupid camera put some of the pictures in a different folder than the one I'm used to, but I found them and have added them to the album on my Facebook page with the rest of the car show photos. Here are the photos that it turns out that I did take of Donnie's car, along with a couple extra for fillers. :)

Thank You, Mark, for posting the pictures of Donnie's Speedster. It looks great!!! The only thing to make the pictures better would be if Donnie and his Wife were sitting in it and wearing the period correct clothes they got to go with the car.

What do you say, Donnie? It would sure be nice....

Thanks, Keith

Keith, I would love to show the car with our period clothing. But, I do not think we would fair well with the winter driving coats, gloves, and furs in June with the heat index well above 100 degrees. :) :) Marks first photo of my car does show my wife sitting behind the car in the pink shirt. She had found a shady spot on the side walk ... :)

as good as the car looks in the photos, it is so much better in person, especially hearing it running!
