Teflon Tape
I have used the yellow teflon tape on two of my cars. I wouldn't recommend using this, as it had failed after one to two years of service.
What I have found to take it's place is Gasoila. It is a thick liquid that is applied with a brush. I'm anxious to see how it works out.

If you're referring to attachments to the carb or sediment bulb, i have had great luck using Loctite 567.

Re: Teflon Tape
Gasoila is a great product. Some times hard to find over the counter. It is used in fire apparatus a lot. The red hard set should not be used on anything you may want to take apart someday as it may not give up with out a fight. Once Gasoila sets up its more resistant to vibration that the teflon based sealants and some part MFG's do not want teflon used on tapered pipe threads because the luberacating effect makes it easy to over torque and damage castings. In a pinch plastic garbage & grocery bags will substitute for teflon tape to get you home.

Re: Teflon Tape
There looks to be a number of Gasoila products. Which one is for Model T use?

Re: Teflon Tape
Tapered pipe threaded gasoline line connections on my Ts, (other than the pack nuts, these need to be easily removable), are best served by good 'ole Permatex #2 gasket sealant.
Spread on the threads and fasten the fitting, dries to a firm setting and is resistant to today's ethanol gasoline too.
Was around at the time of the Model T and still works wonders.

Re: Teflon Tape
Gasoila has a online apllication chart chart. For the most part they would use them on threads the same as permatex, grey where you use non hardening and red where you use hardening. I have never seen it used on gaskets.

EZ turn aviation fuel lube works well. It's great on petcocks on the tapered seats. A bar of soap will work to seal a gas leak but I feel more confident in the fuel lube. Works well on some gaskets as well and they can be used over.

Re: Teflon Tape
Yellow teflon tape is for use on gaseous lines and fittings. Natural gas, propane, butane, etc. It is color coded yellow like other gas fittings, flex lines, and special PVC gas pipe and sold in plumbing sections of Hardware stores, not Automotive stores. It's not for gasoline!

Re: Teflon Tape
I agree with Jeff, the yellow tape is for gas applications. (when I say gas, I’m not referring to Petrol!)
