Loud noise in reverse not normal whine, car getting moved to Bend, Oregon in next week or so

Last week was backing up a customer's car. Noticed that there was a loud grinding noise. Today went back over to check it out. Pulled the inspection plate, what I found was no good! Two of the triple gears seem fine on their shafts, the 3rd you could pull back and spin. While it seem fine on its shaft, and as well as I could see looking down and in, did not see any broken teeth on it. Car goes forward ok, but really complains in reverse. Something is amiss, to say the least. I can't do an engine pull right now, no room, and he is sending the car over to his son-in-laws in Bend, Oregon in the next few days. He and I need to know if there is anyone in the Bend area that can pull the engine and see what is up, and repair?
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
