Proper Position of the Gas Generator on 1911 Touring’s Running-Board?

Hello Fellow Model T-ers,

I am hoping that some of you might help me mount my gas light generator correctly on the running-board. It’s going on a 1911 Touring Car.

For example, I would like to know;

1 & 2). Where on the 45” x 8” running-board should it be mounted, both front to back and across the short 8” width. And/or it’s position relative to a body section.

3). What position should the 3 base-to-running board through-bolts be placed.

4). What is the proper nut and bolt for this year and generator.

5). In what direction should the ‘on - off’ valve assembly be pointing.
and

6). Any other pointers that might help me avoid future criticism from Original Smith type guys.

Thank you in advance for any guidance you may offer.

There are some good period pictures of 1911s when they were new on this site. The best stuff is in the "members only" section. It costs nothing to become a member.

Steve,

Your tank is a bit different than the one on our 11 touring, but here are the dimensions of where the bracket that holds the tank are on the driver's side running board:
