‘24 Steering Column removal
I need to get the steering column out of my ‘24 Coupe. It’s simple on a ‘26 being that the firewall is notched out under the column and I’ve done that multiple times. Do I need to remove the timing rod casting rivet before this can happen?

Yes. For complete removal as that spark rod lever removed let’s you pull the steering shaft and both control rods from the steering bracket. One way is to remove the pitman arm, then the 3 bracket bolts so the bracket is loose off the frame, remove bolts to column at firewall and slip the entire column partly into the car resting on the seat.
Then easy to access that lever rivet to drill/grind/punch it out, and then soft mallet the bracket away from the steering shaft. One off, the column can be removed out the firewall hole.

That's kind of what I figured but was hoping that there was some trick I was missing. Darn. Those pins can be pesky little buggers.
