27 Coupe Window Shade

Post by pron022020 » Thu Feb 10, 2022 8:19 pm

I have my original window shade (at least I think it is, It has some older replacement fabric on it from the 50s or 60s) and I need to get some new fabric for it. I am going along with light grey for the headliner and from what I have seen the shade is supposed to match?

Should I order an assembly from Lang's? Do they include the actual mechanism and are they somewhat authentic? Also, what is with all of the different dimensions available?

The 1926 coupe with green striped seats had a green silk shade, do not know what was used in 1927 with white striped seats for a shade color, grey silk is as good a guess as any.

The reproduction shades do come complete with the spring loaded roller mechanism. All you need are the original standoff mounts, if your car still has them in place, measure the distance between these brackets for the width size shade you require. Reason for different widths is the different window widths to be covered in all the various closed car body styles.

'25 Coupe used to own had non-stock tan upholstery, but no shade, so ordered a new tan shade and brackets, measured the distance across the rear window and mounted new brackets into the wood frame. Mount the roller shade so that it pulls down against the window, under roll, you don't want it to pull over the front of the roll.

Looks like my current shade was about 26 inches, so that is what I need. I am assuming if I wanted to I could take the shade off of the reproduction roller and put it on my original?

I wouldn't assume that.

Absolutely, so long as the fabric is correct width for original roller. Fabric is stapled to wood roller, make sure you get it absolutely square & straight. jb
