Ford Service Manual in large type 10 3/4" x 8 1/2"

Post by DanTreace » Mon Feb 07, 2022 5:27 pm

Just got my copy of the newest reprint of Ford Service, think this one is destined to be useful for us older T'ers with aging eyes

The photos aren't more crisp, but at least they are larger to peer at the details. The type font is the right size. ;)

It looks like the scans are a lot clearer than the old repro books.

There is a guy that sells them on eBay, but have a white cover.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

You DO NOT want the issue that has the white cover. It is nearly unreadable. The pictures are especially bad. When I ordered it, I expected it was a reprint, but it appears it is actually just a scan of the original manual, and then blown up to full book size. The pictures are very foggy, grayed out, and have some kind of computer pattern of printing or scanning on them which is VERY noticeable. The printing is larger, but with the graying instead of being black on white, it is hard to even read the printing.
I got my copy, and wound up going right back to the small Model T Maintenance book, with the help of a magnifier.

Who put out the black cover edition? Is it just a blown up rescan? or an actual reprinting in a larger size? The pictures posted here look MUCH better than the pics and text in the white book.

Just got mine, It's great, nice large photo's. This is what should have come with the cars from the factory. way more than what I was expecting. Now at least I can see what the text is describing.

Thank you Dan for posting this notice. I received my large font copy and it certainly is easy on the eyes.
Four years ago I had bought a “large font” version that I had intended to use in my garage but the reprint was not so good.
These are comparisons of the copies I have:

Thanks for posting all those pics!
I can see I need to find a copy of the black version of the Model T Manual. That one appears MUCH better than the white cover version!

Thank you, Dan,

Just ordered one of these large format manuals from The Motor Bookstore too. Got free shipping as well as a 10% discount.

Much appreciated for this hint,

Joe

My book came Saturday.

It is all Dan said it was and makes me wonder why no one has never thought of that larger size many years ago.

I also wondered why the book was selling for a lot less that the copies offered on Amazon.

I have already found and read information from the old boos that was hard to find and read.

Three years ago I mentioned to my wife that I wanted a new service manual that I can keep clean and in the house. My little oily one is in my toolbox in the barn. My wife must have told the family about it and I received several as Christmas presents. I got the small one, the white one and three of the large-format versions. The large-format are the best. I think the white one is missing the table of contents so it's on a shelf in the basement.
