How low did they go?
I think I saw $265 for a runabout mentioned somewhere. This was an ad in the Sandusky, Ohio newspaper.

Ford Runabout mailer from J.C.Van Roo Co. South St. Paul MN. Aug. 24 1924. $ 265.00 without demountable rims and starter, $ 85.00 extra.

A couple things to go along with this post. At that time the dollar was backed by gold and silver. So it was a lot more valuable than a piece of paper.
It was very much like it is today. You saw the models with all the extras in the showroom. You could buy it and drive home. If you wanted the "stripped down" model you had to order it. The de-lux model had nickel plated radiator and headlight rims and bumpers and it had wire spoke wheels.

The lowest Model T price I found in the encyclopedia is for a 1924 or 1925 non-starter runabout with non-demountable wheels: $260.

Prices shown were for retail sales in Detroit, I believe. You'd pay more elsewhere due to shipping, taxes, dealer set up and mark up. I think Ford sold cars to dealers below "list", but they also had to pay shipping, etc, plus their overhead and profit, if any. High volume dealers were offered discounts compared to low volume dealers, and dealers near low cost shipping facilities had advantages.

The new 1925 pickup, introduced in March of 1925 was $385 with starter, generator and demountable rims.

I believe the record low price F. O. B. Detroit was $265.00 for the 1926 roadster. By then, I'm pretty sure that included self starter and demountable rims. ?!?
It would be interesting to know how much transportation and dealer preparation added to the selling price in various localities.
