windshield end caps?
can someone please tell me what holds the windshield end caps on? should i apply heat? 1915 touring. bobt

A picture would help but normally a slotted machine screw. With age and rust behind it you may need to use a hardwood block against it after removal of the screw of coarse working it off equally with a mallet.

If you are replacing glass, to get a grip on the glass, use about 3" to 4" c clamps with thin wood blocks and pieces of rubber against the glass on both sides works well. Just wiggle equally while holding firm on the frame normally will get the worst ones out.

Don’t apply heat. With an ice pick clean out the rust in the screw slot. Then insert a flat tip screwdriver in the slot. Now tap the top of the screwdriver to ‘shock’ the rusty screw in the filler block. Pressing down hard on the screwdriver try and back out the screw. If it ain’t working soak the screw in PB Blaster. Keep trying. When screw removed use hard wood block as described above to remove end caps...

As George said, 'shock' the screws. After shocking the screws a few times with a standard screwdriver, use an impact screwdriver, IF you have a bit that fits the screw well. A tapered bit, which most screwdrivers have, will just try to 'slide' out of the screw slot while turning it. An impact screwdriver will also shock the screws while turning them in or out, IF the bit has parallel sides, NO taper. Just don't get in a big hurry, give some time for the penetrating oil to work. Also, as said, with the impact screwdriver, try screwing them in and out a few times, don't hit it too hard, let the lube work into the threads. Did I say, don't get in a big hurry?
