Hello Steve,

A majority of the model T bodies were supplied from outside vendors. The different vendors had different practices of keeping records of the number of bodies they sold to Ford. It was/is common to find "body numbers" stamped or carved into bodies IF the body still contains the original part having the number. These numbers really have no meaning other than the serial number from the original vendor. I know some of these vendor numbers have been used as VIN numbers but the actual VIN is the number on the engine.

I hope this helps you out. It's a neat thing to have the original body number.

Good Luck and Welcome to the forum.

Cheers,
Terry

Hi Steve
I have a 24 Coupe that has a stamped number on the left body side on the lower floor. I’ll try to get a picture of it later.
But I do have a T part no. that I found under one of the original front seat cushions when I installed new seat upholstrey in it a few years ago. This car was my Grandfathers and was well used and the upholstry was in tatters.

I don’t know if the open cars had part numbers for there upholstrey.

If you look at the before and after pictures I think I’m going in the wrong direction but hopefully I’ll get there one day
