Bad weather, getting ready for Kansas Tour

Post by Graybeard77 » Thu May 23, 2019 8:05 am

I think I loaded the wrong item in the trailer. Should have loaded the bass boat instead of the 'T'. We are having way more rain than we need here in Springfield, Mo. Hope to see some of you on the Kansas Tour. Have a safe day. Clyde.

Hey Clyde, I'll see you there. The weather forecast for Russell could be better but again it could be worse. It's been a long winter and my T and I both need this tour. Let's hope for blue skies!!

I've been looking forward to it. But my touring has no top, and the Russell forecast tells me it won't be a good topless car weekend. Maybe next time. :(

Looks like the worst of it moved east last night.
Tornadoes all over MO...prayers to those in Jefferson and surrounding areas.

There are so many different weather reports, I just pick one I like. We have had a few cancellations, but we've still got 27 cars going.

I got word on Tuesday that one of the paved roads on our route washed out, so we went yesterday and found a completely new route. I definitely don't like it as much as the first, but it will be better than trying to figure it out on Saturday.

The joys of running a tour, right?

I was hoping to make it, with our T racer and/or K, but corn planting has not gone as expected in Nebraska. I'm still hoping to plant several acres of corn, although that is becoming somewhat of a pipe dream. Hope everyone has a great time. It will be a great tour regardless as you all enjoy the heartland.

...corn planting has not gone as expected...

Planting corn, cutting wheat, or any other field work looks like a vain hope at this point. Any attempt would have your equipment sunk in mud to the axles. I should be driving my touring toward Russell right now, but thunder is booming and the rain is pouring down. Drat! :(

The tour is now over. Luckily (for those that attended) we only had rain at night. All three days were about 75 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. But no rain during the day.

About a week ago, we had 35 cars registered. After the predictions of rain, that numbers dwindled. We had 24 Model T's and their owners. No one had any trouble. I think and hope everyone had a good time.

Sorry, I didn't take any photos. I was too busy having fun, and trying to make sure everyone else was too. Maybe someone that attended has some photos to share.

Gary and Chris always run good tours, and I'm sorry I had to miss this one. I hope I'll have a top on my touring by the time the next one rolls around.

We had a great time. The countryside was beautiful and good tour directions. Great job Chris. Clyde
