You may know, Ed, that according to the Model T Ford Encyclopedia the new, improved Ford in 1926 was changed by"...lowering the frame by a redesign of the front spindles, and a reduction of the crown in the front spring. The rear cross-member had a deeper curve which lowered the chassis somewhat as well." This may well have been the reason.

I wonder if the increased driveshaft angle wore the “fourth main” out any faster? I am no engineer……

However, the crankcase and carburetor was higher when you ford the stream.

Robert, the bike tubes are cheaper than buying new 13" car tubes, and they work just as well. I just leave a standing order for used 13" car tubes with two local tyre shops and they put them aside for me. I have given quite a few away in the past. A bloke turned up at a local swao meet a few years back with a pallet load of new tubes. I bought all the 13" ones for a dollar each, and shared them out with club members.

You can achieve all this goofy elevated height just by installing 13" tubes? I'd never guessed that's all it takes.

James, I have no idea how that post ended up in this thread. It was a response to another post about installing flaps!!!!!!!!
When i saw the red marker on this post, i wondered what I had said.

Allan: I assumed the forum somehow posted your reply at random, but I could not resist being a smart @&& given the content of the thread. And I do appreciate reading the many helpful technical things you post here, take care, jb
