It should be worth $350 for the collectors, even if it doesn't work. However, if you are planning to actually use it, $350 will buy an ECCT which will more accurately adjust coils.

Monies involved in the derusting, remagnetizing the magnets, possibly a new coil ring, and then properly finishing everything off maybe worth a lot more to someone who has a great interest in an HCCT. ..... And I agree the ECCT is geared for more accurate results in calibrating and adjusting coils.

I am fortunate to own two reconditioned Wilson HCCT's, one hand cranked and one with a motor, and a Strobospark. I took delivery of an ECCT just last Friday and have become a believer in just two days. I am proud to own a piece of history with the Wilsons, but am very impressed with the new tester. The two Model T's that I have "fine tuned" now idle much more smoothly. The '26 touring just ran at 49.2 mph for the first time since I got her. Her front end put up a bit of a fuss but she stayed between the ditches!

Thanks for sharing your experience using the ECCT. The HCCT is a wonderful example of early automotive technology but really no surprise adjusting coils for equal and consistent firing Time has distinct advantages over adjusting coils for equal coil current; after all, current is Not time and engine performance depends upon ignition Timing not coil current. Here is a simple analogy:
