Does anybody know of a source for the Funprojects voltage regulators?

wish I knew....mine needs repair .
Who's still makes these gaskets, I might be in the market for a solid copper one myself.

Search the Forum.
Discussed at length earlier this year.
The 'chip' is no longer available.
There are some DIY circuits suggested. Surprisingly complex!

John
if you are able to find a regulator, you MUSTMUSTMUST get the output tamed on your generator first (based on your other thread) and then follow the instructions that come with the regulator.

Re: who sells fun projects regulator?
Birdhaven in Colfax Iowa, purchased Funprojects, Texas T Parts and most recently Bob's Antique Auto Parts. It appears that the inventory of the products that these suppliers were noted for have run out. I and others have sent emails to Birdhaven that remain unanswered. The only WEB site they still have is Texas T and that doesn't reference many Model T parts. The do have a wide selection of parts but you need to call to ask & order.
and to answer your initial question "who sells fun projects regulator?" no one .
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Yea,it is a loss to the hobby when there is good stuff out there and the big fish eat the little fish and then there is nothing left. When 1 company buys another, you can forget the other's products were ever there.
Similar happened when i needed a rebuild kit for a brake cylinder on my tandem trailer.company was bought by the competition, literally to eliminate it is what the man said on the phone.

From Internet search:

""In recent times (end of 2021), there has been a lot of interest on the MTFCA forum about voltage regulators, since the Fun Projects regulator is in short supply. It has certainly been a popular accessory over the years, and from all reports, as well my own experience, it works very well. With some encouragement from forum members Mike Kossor (the designer of the ECCT, E- timers, and I-Timers), and Luke, a fellow electronics and Model T enthusiast, I decided to finish my project.""

You do not have to be an engineer, any one can fit a square peg into a round hole...with the proper hammer.

Re: who sells fun projects regulator?
I just finished a mod to my generator to give a high and low charge rate. It was very simple and fairly discreet. I put an insulated screw on the band cover and moved the ground lead from the field coil off of the grounded brush to the insulated screw. I suppose you could use a voltage regulator there but instead are used a ballast resistor that was 1.8 ohm in resistance. I grounded one side of the resistor and attached a wire to the insulated screw that I put in the band cover. This would give a reduced charge rate. Then I ran a wire from the insulated screw through a toggle switch and then to ground. When the switch is in the on position it would give full charge to whatever the third brush is set at. With the switch in the off position it would roughly half that. I’m just tickled pink by it. The whole deal cost me about $10. And it fairly keeps the original appearance by still using the diode cut out. I believe I heard that you can put a five amp fuse in with the field coil circuit that will protect the field coil in case the cut out fails. I have not tried that yet but was considering putting a fuse in that ground wire before the insulated screw. I don’t know if that will accomplish anything. If my memory serves me right, I believe there has been prior discussion about putting a fuse in that field circuit to protect from a runaway generator in case of a cut out failure.

Re: who sells fun projects regulator?
I intend to bring the field ground wire out through an insulated terminal in the generator body, leaving the third brush arrangement intact. I believe that would allow using a 2 or 3 element 6 volt Delco type regulator for automatic general regulation and using the third brush to pre-set a fixed limit on the maximum charge rate. Alternatively, resistance could be manually switched into the field circuit rather than use the Declo regulator.

Re: who sells fun projects regulator?
Thank you Scott for showing that post. I thought I remembered it but you know how things go as you get older. L O L my thought also was to include a Delco style regulator but I didn’t want to spend the money upfront and what I’ve done is satisfactory for me now. If someone actually has done or does do the Delco regulator I would be interested in to see how that works. In my opinion it’s a reasonable solution, and an excellent upgrade for a car that is driven regularly.
