AND, if they are rusty they generally aren’t usable. Even if properly cleaned it will likely be rough enough that it will rapidly wear the ring gear. Scrap steel is around $180 per ton, so 9 cents per pound might be a pretty fair price…

It depends if it’s rusted enough to be pitted. If it’s not pitted it will clean up and will be serviceable.

It has been re-machined to fit a T U-joint and might have been used in the homemade tractor or power drive using a TT rearend. The end that is now square would have been splined to fit the coupling where it would have been attached to the driveshaft. Even if it could be cleaned up, looks like it would, it would have minimal value and only to someone building such a piece.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:
