ampmeter size ?
Even though they were wired differently, would the 26-27 Model T amp meter be the same diameter as the Model A ampmeter?

Yes, they are interchangeable.
The 26-7 ammeter has a flat bezel. This design made it into early Model A production. The bezel was changed for Model A but it only affects appearance and not function.

Here is an original with the flat bezel and the box, which says on the side that it is for the 1926-‘27 Model T and Model A. Jim Patrick
